Assuming the best version of Conn... Who is the best HW champ you'd favor Conn to beat?

The bum that Haye beat, wouldn`t land a punch all night, Conn was quicker than Haye and would be able to land more punches because his quick feet would get him inside to land the out to stay out of trouble. Bruno would have been beat by Conn because he didn`t hit harder than Louis and his hands were slower so Conn could evade his right hand, the only reason Billy might have trouble is because of the reach distance and Bruno`s constant jab keeping out of range. I feel Conn would have done better against McCall than he did vs Louis because McCall was so awful vs Bruno.

    A fair few I suspect.

Any sort of an off night could be disastrous against a the best version of Conn!

Jersey Joe needed 5 tries I could see Conn outboxibg him.

    Ingo could be outboxed

    L. Spinks would lose

Conn was small but he was really good. These guys could KO him. But I would favor him going in against these three. Just speaking of lineal guys who came after Louis.

    As always, under what rules?

Under rules that are favourable to him, best for best:

    Sullivan
    Corbett
    Fitzsimmons
    Hart
    Burns
    Willard
    Braddock
    Johansson
    Spinks
    Briggs

And a whole bunch of beltholders probably.

John Ruiz, Leon Spinks, Bruce Seldon, Shannon Briggs, Deontay Wilder, Bermaine Stiverne. Possibly Berbick, Byrd, Moorer, and Johannson.

Excellent question, and I should've specified as such. Let's say the conditions for the fight are:

Gloves - Same as when Conn was fighting

Rounds - Let's say, anybody who's prime was before 1920, Conn would have to go 20 rounds. Anybody after 1920, it will be the standard of Conn's day, 15 rounds.

Clinch Work - Same as allowed during the time Conn was fighting.

The Spinks brothers come to mind. Not saying he'd beat them but they come to mind before many others.

Then you have really tired versions of great fighters like a Holmes or even an Ali around Spinks time. Again i'm not saying he'd win but he could potentially be very awkward and some sort of threat of maybe eeking out a decision.

    I don't think he'd get past M. Spinks at HW......Leon most likely.

I think he'd have the style to make it awkward for Michael. Michael was the faster more elusive man in all his heavyweight tussles excepting Tyson.

He wouldn't be faster and more elusive than Conn. Eddie Futch once put up numerous pictures of Conn up in his gym as an example of "the way it should be done."

Why? Too small? Not even a Marvin Hart, Braddock or Tommy Burns type
