Would you rather a 1980s, Tyson style unification where AJ collects the belts one by one from lesser belt holders to become unified, remaining the strong to overwhelming favorite in each fight? Or would you rather a more tournament style unification, reminiscent of the 90s and Lewis Holyfield, a meeting of basic equals? In this scenario, Wilder and Parker fight first and the winner challenges AJ on mostly equal terms. It's all academic, because the money runs through AJ and I can't see Wilder and Parker risking their belts for lesser money, even though it would make sense if they were long term thinkers, by raising their profile, making a good chunk on that fight, and then setting up an even more lucrative mega unification against AJ where they would also have a solid argument for 50% of the purse. Unfortunately, these guys don't believe in themselves and aren't long term planners.
I just want to see Wilder fight Joshua and get it over and done with. I'm maybe even more sick of reading about him as I was with Haye when he was in 'ongoing saga' mode.
In an ideal world when Wilder called out Parker after Joshua/Wlad and Duco contacted Wilder's people they wouldn't of went MIA and set up a unification fight resulting in the scenario you've outlined. But as you said all the money runs through Joshua. A better question is, would you prefer Joshua pick up Parker's WBO belt first before taking on Wilder for the undisputed heavyweight title? Joshua/Wilder has the potential to be bigger than any fight involving Parker and ideally all the belts should be on the line when it happens. The biggest potential match up should have the biggest platform possible, though I know some would rather see it now, the sport and other belt be damned.
I would like to see Parker / Wilder tbh. I think that would be a pretty good scrap, and I think Parker wins it. Whoever comes out of that one the winner will have much increased leverage with AJ.
Whatever works. Is it actually possible to hold all the belts at once without getting stripped by one or more of the sanctioning bodies?
Yeah, that's the thing. I'm not sure who is better between Parker and Wilder, but both look a level below AJ right now. If either Wilder or Parker easily beats the other though, I'd give the winner a solid shot at AJ. Both fights are much more interesting than AJ beating them both up now, and the winner would have more confidence and experience, and thus a better shot, heading into an AJ fight. Makes for a better division.
