Which HW would beat Usyk?

Mike Tyson, Vitaly Klitschko, Riddick Bowe, Evander Holyfield.

 

Sure as hell wouldn't count any of them out. Usyk being some mythological beast in the weakest HW era ever, with 8 HW fights against 5 opponents isn't going to cut it for me.

 

I could see a prime Mike Tyson and Ali pulling it off.

Maybe the Fury that beat Wlad could squeak an SD too. He seemed to have more success with his herky jerky style than whatever mediocrity Sugar Hill has turned him into.

Usyk may be the best of his era at the moment, but he's not invulnerable.

 

Some of us boxing fans probably still can't grasp it/come to terms with it, but Usyk might be the greatest boxer in history at the heavier weights...
Who could beat him? That's a bit of a misguided question. Who would have the best chance? That's more fitting.

I just wouldn't be confident in fighting young Tyson. Prime Wlad Klitschko could shake things up a bit, but I absolutely wouldn't give either of those guys the nod, let alone a tough one.

Usyk is fantastic. He has virtually no flaws and is 20 years ahead in sports technology than many of the great heavyweights.

He's simply a genius. Accept it and savor it, because history like this probably won't repeat itself anytime soon...

 

Frazier and Tyson I would pretty confidently pick over Usyk. Not to say that Usyk *couldn't* win but I think their pressure, power and body work would prove too much. 60/40 against Usyk.

Ali Holmes and Holyfield I think manage to edge him in close fights. Wouldn't be much between them. 55/45 against Usyk.

I'd favour him over Lewis but Lewis could certainly win that fight. 55/45 to Usyk

Apart from those guys, I would favour Usyk over every heavyweight in history with varying degrees of confidence. Outboxes Bowe, Marciano, Wlad, Louis, Liston and Foreman.

Though I could see Foreman maybe getting to him with a vicious body attack, if I was a betting man Usyk would be the safer pick. Never been down to the head, better pure boxing skills and a far superior gas tank.

Weakest HW era ever? Wlad was in the weakest ever. Holmes was a dog **** one. Late 80s-90s had some great HWs but none really fought each other at their peak. Lennox, Evander, Tyson, Bowe. It’s not like it was that deep, this is comparable to Usyk, Fury, Wilder and Joshua. Honestly Dubois will be in that discussion soon too.

 

‘67 Ali beats every heavyweight who ever put on a pair of gloves. He absolutely takes out Usyk. He had everything that Usyk does, plus well above average punching power (Ali eventually lost his power due to hand issues, but watch how opponents react to ‘67 Ali hitting them — he could hit).

‘00 Lewis gives Usyk a real rough time, might pull it off. Check out the success AJ had against Usyk at points in their rematch. Know who is about the same size and far better at that exact type of fighting? ‘00 Lewis.

‘88 Tyson is a nightmare.

Holmes? Had issues with southpaws. I don’t see how he beats Usyk given that.

Wlad? Maybe? Not likely though. Can’t jab and grab with a guy who can’t be grabbed.

 

Ituama is going to eclipse all of them. I don’t know how you beat the guy who fought Franklin. When he’s got the hand and foot speed of a welterweight yet can hit like the best of the HWs, like, wtf do you do against that? He’s so much quicker than everybody, and when he lands, it’s like peak Wilder was the one who threw the shot. He even paused a split second to style his KO against Franklin, make it look extra sweet on the highlight reel.

 

Itauma is unproven, David Morrell looked unstoppable at one point too and you see what happened to him last weekend.

 

Ituama’s final exam is his next fight. We’ll know everything after that fight with Hrgovic. He blasts Hrgovic out of there like Franklin, that’s a holy **** moment.

 

Don’t get me wrong Hrgybear would be a solid win, but Dubois already beat him handily. If Itauma blasts Dubois out I’ll be convinced. He hasn’t dealt with that kind of power or relentlessness.
