Which, if any, of these Tyson opponents would have beaten Jack Johnson?

Show me the part of his post where he says JJ has to face all of them in their prime? Where was that stated? I believe he's asking how would JJ do against the SAME opponents at the same TIME as Tyson fought them.

    An interesting observation.

Johnson took part in battle royalÂ’s early in his career, and later took part in wrestling matches, and strongman exhibitions.

He would almost certainly have tried UFC, if he had lived in an era where there was money in it.

Stop making logical deductive sense Big Red, just say Johnson wins over this second class contender types he's pitted against here.

Then are we to assume Johnson was the same age Tyson was when he fought them? If so, Johnson gets creamed.

Or are we to take the very best version of Johnson from 1908-1912 and match him vs Tyson's opponents when he fought them?

I don't view it that way.

If you ask me who the best tennis players were I have no such allegiance to when he played.

The same can be said for golf, or any other individual sport like Track and Field. All I need to data and film.

In most cases I think modern athletes not on PED's are a bit better.

And how is it you've determined which ones are on PEDs?

Failed drug tests, and obvious change in builds for openers.

Failed drug tests, we absolutely agree.

But it's easy to define which ones are.

How do you know which ones aren't?

When Sam Langford started roiding, he went from being a 156lb fighter who won on the scorecards, to a fully-fledged 185lb knockout machine!

Steroids allowed Jack Johnson to develop from a skinny 168 pounder, to 208lbs of pure muscle!

They would smack Johnson around then ko him. Not all of them....Holmes, Bonecrusher, Tubbs definitely. There are no Fireman Whatever or Sailor Whatever or tiny Sam Langfords on that list. And Johnson avoided Langford like the plague once Sam matured as a boxer (yes I know JJ beat him when Sam was young).

I still maintain JJ would be a UFC guy today. I'm not disrespecting him...I give him credit for most likely being competitive with Kimbo Slice etc.

Of course not, we assume Johnson is prime, just as Tyson was when he fought them.

    Sure...for laughs.

But I get more laughs reading about how the Johnsons, Grebs and Leonards would be competitive in 2015.

And no, I'm not a youngster...I start on Medicare this coming March.:hi:
