Which If Best Top Ten List

Not one of them has Lennox Lewis, so i rate all pretty lowly tbh.

List C with Patterson at 3 and Bivins top 10 is crap.

 

List A is reasonable but B with Tunney at 5 is shyte.

 

I would probably say D.

 

D and E at least have some decent usual suspects.

 

So i am down to A, D and E.

 

Holyfield at 3 in E kills it, considering Tyson is not there. If Tyson isn't there what has Holyfield done to nab 3 position?

I like Ali at 1 so i'll go for D, but there's nuttin' between em.

 

I'm already on record saying A is pretty good.

List B is interesting, I agree with 3/5 of the top5, but Tunney and Charles are just too high. I really don't feel these rankings are justifiable.

List C is bonkers. I'm not one to dismiss an opinion rather than trying to understand what's behind it (particularly from historians) but I don't think anyone on this site would be happy with this list.

D's okay up to 9 and 10. I don't think Jersey Joe and Langford rate that highly.

E is interesting, Holyfield is too high though. Must favour head-to-head higher than accomplishments.

They're all acceptable in my opinion, with the exception of C which needs some explanation. Tyson is absent from too many though, he was the Jack Dempsey of the 80's who actually defended his title.

All in all I don't know which one I like best - I'm inclined to say A, but I don't think Marciano should be No.1, and every other list has Louis/Ali top.

 

Yeah, they are very close. I probably chose D because of Ali at nr. 1, but A is no less reasonable, really.

 

Good point. Don't like the guy, but how can you really justify having Dempsey a lot higher than him? For me Tyson is definitely higher than Dempsey.
