Both fights are similar. Both Americans face Russians. Both Americans risk their O against live dogs in Povetkin & Kovalev. Is Ward facing Kovalev a bigger step up versus than Wilder facing Povetkin? Which American has a bigger challenge in front of him? Any thoughts?
I'd say Kovalev > Povetkin in their respective divisions but Wilder has mainly fought a collection of carnival fat men, soccer hooligans, pastry chefs and cab drivers. Whereas Ward has a legit resume. So, Wilder facing Povetkin is the bigger step up by far.
Kovalev stepping up to Ward is the bigger fight. Wilder was ready... Not sure what happened to Povetkin tho, Anyone here remember?
Ward has already fought top class competition, although quite a while ago and they weren't LHW's. Wilder fought paper beltholder Stiverne...
Wilder facing Povetkin is a bigger step up.Ward is proven at the elite level in his division and already has a win over the former LHW champion (albeit with an *).
