almsot all American beer has been developed from European brewries. all Budwiser is, is a cheaper version of the Czech beer Budvar.
Mainstream American beer is not very good, mainstream European beer is good, and American small batch and Canadian beers are by far the best. Canadian should be part of the poll. I voted American because I'm matching up Europe's best with America's best.
America's best beers are only considered good because they're 'protected' by being compared to other shitty beers in the US
Nothing beats Belgian beers: Westvleteren 12, Chimay Bleu, Delirium Tremens... no question, p4p top 3
There is a monastery between Ypres and Veurne in Belgium (Krombeke maybe??) that produces the finest beer I have ever tasted. You can only buy it from the monastery and it is only available for one day about once every two weeks. At 12% it is a bit of a goodnight rather than a session beer. Bizarely, the best beer I had when I lived in the US (Athens and Atlanta GA during the 90's for 5 years) was imported draught Bass.....incredible that it stood the journey.
