It's better for boxing if Calzaghe wins IMO.

Thing is, if Calzaghe loses, you've got a 10 year paper champ who crumbled against the first world class opponent he came up against. And that would be a bit of a disaster for the fight game.

Kessler can still have a cracking career if he loses.

Joe can make one or more (hopefully more) superfights of the back of a win, too.

A win for the better man is best for boxing.

Allow me to change your post to

"A win for the clearly better man is best for boxing."

Due to away disadvantage Kess needs a clear victory. Remember Kess is two points down when they start.;)

I think the answer very much depends on what Joe would do after his win - if he indeed wins...would he use it to fight the best on a grand scale and promote the fights that should really be made - those against hungry live dangermen, the kind of fights that would enhance Joe's legacy most and help boxing turn the corner from hyped-up circle jerking and straw/ NAME have-been opponents, or would it be an excuse for Joe to content himself with polishing off Hopkins and Pavlik for the triple crown...which in the eyes of those that don't follow the sport, would mean much more than him fighting the best.

Kessler is young, and unless he gets lacyed in this fight, he will fight the best out there, both at SMW and LHW in the future...

So, if Joe would follow up his win with a fight against Pavlik and Hopkins, it would be preferable if Kessler won, because he fights the best even away from home, and would continue to do so for years to come.

Like in the fight itself, it's all up to Joe...:nod

 ...Yeah...over Bika, I only gave Bute 2 rounds and Joe - 4, so in my book, Kessler might still be the winner even if the judges decide otherwise...but you are right, let's hope one of them is clearly better on the night...

Clearly Kessler. If Calzaghe wins he'll probably fight a load more bums while calling out middleweights.

There's no such thing as boxing's moral value so it's equally as good. Kessler is landing on Calzaghe for sure but he's been fighting 37 out of 39 in Denmark so how good is his will to do something in case he succeeds, how good is yours, mine? Nothing is of value, everything is relative - there are immaterial objects such as the desire to win and the post-facto rationalization, then there are distorting (pre/post)-views of the future and the past and these last are usually not explainable until you reach bedrock, the roots of the problems such as controversies and robberies ( something most likely to happen here)...

I don't want to jinx it...so I am not going to say it...but I am no fool either! Still, last time I begged Joe to do the right thing, he did!:nut

I am going to beg some more on this site after the fight and will keep my fingers crossed! I have faith in Joe!:nod
