If Bigger means more money and recognition- Hopkins If Bigger means more exciting and best for boxing - Pavlik
I say Pavlik is bigger fight because style wise Calzaghe vs Pavlik will mush will a real slugfest:bbb while Calzaghe vs Hopkins will be ugly.:!:
Calzaghe v Hopkins would be ugly and fascinating. Calzaghe v Pavlik would be one sided and depressing. All of this is assuming that Calzaghe/Hopkins don't slide.
I agree with this, but being I tend to believe the question was phrased in the context of legacy, the answer is Hopkins.
Calzaghe/Pavlik would be the more exciting fight, but Calzaghe/Hopkins would probably be the bigger fight and Hopkins, even at 42, would probably be bigger for Calzaghe's legacy than Pavlik would at this stage.
Depends. People will judge the stage of BHop's career. A victory over BHop right now would be somewhat tainted by Bernard's age. A victory over Pavlik would be harder to argue with.
There is no way the Pavlik fight is best for boxing in the long run. Hopkins - Calzaghe = a mega fight = bigger numbers = more newsworthy = more fans brought in that wouldnt normally be watching = more new fans of the sport and the of winner (Hopkins....LOL). Pavlik is a big punching MW, who would be moving up to SMW and would in all likelyhood get schooled...Lacy style....how is this better for boxing then having arguably the two best fighters of this era go head to head (even if it is a few years too late)? Anyone picking Pavlik is doing so without thinking it through.
If he wants to wrestle and get pot shotted and head butted for 12 rounds fight PotShotkins. Otherwise take the fight with Pavlik.
That means it will me more exciting, not bigger. Obviously the bigger fight would include the BIGGER name, and that's Hopkins. Unless yo mean something else by 'bigger'.
