Tito then Tarver. All those other fights he should have won.

As a Hopkins fan who has seen every one of his fights since 1993, I say:

    1.Trinidad
    2.Tarver
    3.Pascal II
    4.Pavlik
    5.Glen Johnson

Tito was his best win as Trinidad was 40-0, p4p#2, the hot favourite to win, and the WBA mw champ. What a win/performance.

Tarver was 2nd best as B-Hop was 40, coming off two "losses", and went up to Tarver's weight and dominated him.

Pascal II was 3rd as B-Hop was 46 and went to Pascal's hometown and deservedly beat him.

Pavlik 4th as Pavlik was 34-0, p4p ranked, and Hopkins produced a really amazing performance to shut out the younger, bigger man.

But I think Pascal & Pavlik are pretty much interchangeable as 3rd & 4th.

Glen Johnson 5th for me because even though Johnson at that time was not a stellar opponent, he was undefeated and this was physically-prime B-Hop producing an absolutely brilliant, brilliant performance. Still the only man to have stopped Johnson, which also counts for something.

Tito Trinidad . . . not only the best, the most prestigious win.

Trinidad was a career Welterweight , Trinidad stepped up and had three fights at Light-middleweight and then one fight at Middleweight before fighting Hopkins at Middleweight, Trinidad had one more fight and then retired, although he did make a comeback a few years later.

Hopkins was a career Middleweight that was much bigger than Trinidad {career Welterweight}, Hopkins over 6 foot tall, Trinidad under 6 foot tall. Hopkins had a 2 1/2 inch longer reach than Trinidad.

Hopkins best wins are poor for a boxer that is thought of so highly by most in ATG lists, there maybe more depth {debatable} than Calzaghe's resume but Calzaghe's resume at the top end was far better than Hopkins, Calzaghe beating ATG Hopkins in Hopkins own backyard when Calzaghe was further past his prime and closer to retirement than Hopkins cant be matched by any of Hopkins best wins also Hopkins cant match Calzaghe's wins over unbeaten and prime {at the time} career Super-Middleweights in Kessler and Lacy {Lacy who he ruined physically and mentally, why Lacy's corner never pulled their man out after the 7th round when it was impossible for him to win and save his career I will never know}.

I think Hopkins is a great boxer but has a weak resume of 'best wins' {Roy Jones is poor as well at the top end }, history will show that they needed to have faced Calzaghe in Calzaghe's prime, they may not have beaten a prime Calzaghe but it would have removed some question marks over how good Hopkins or Jones were, when facing the best head to head fighter out there, of course Hopkins and Jones eventually faced a non prime Calzaghe and both Hopkins and Jones were beaten on home ground.

Hopkins is a great fighter but has a poor resume of wins at the top end for such a good fighter.

I say tarver/tito tied as his best win, the tito win just looks great overall because of the hype tito got but we all know hopkins should be the one favored to win that fight. Beating the best at the higher weight class in tarver is far better imo

1 - What does this thread have to do with Calzaghe? :huh

2 - Since you bring it up, Calzaghe's resume is weak.

    3 - Hopkins's resume is better.

    4 - Jones's resume is better.

    5 - You're done.

Hopkins and Jones resumes are weak, Calzaghe beat both head to head.

tarver is hopkins best victory by a distance despite tarver being a b-class fighter who was having to drop too much weight after his awesome performance in rocky.

take away the smoke and the mirrors and this is what your left with from hopkins 6 best wins, with 4 of them being from when he made his opponent fight way above what their best weight was.

    trinidad
    prime weight = welterweight (147)
fought hopkins at middleweight (159)
trinidads record at middleweight or above from hopkins onwards = 2 wins / 3 defeats

    winky wright
prime weight - light middleweight (154)
fought hopkins at - 170 lbs
in 57 fights, the hopkins fight was the only fight that wright had weighed over 160 lbs (a full 10lbs difference)

    de la hoya
    prime weight - welterweight (140lbs)
fought hopkins at - middleweight (160lbs)
de la hoya only fought twice in his career at middleweight out of 45 fights -1 win / 1 loss - the win was a very debatable decision over eurobum felix sturm

    pavlik
prime weight - middleweight (160 lbs)
fought hopkins at - 170 lbs
in 34 fights pavlik had only fought 2 minnions at the beginning of his career at 169. all pavliks fights since hopkins have been at the 160 limit.

    tarver
    prime weight 175
great 2 weight jump from hopkins and his best win despite tarver being a b-level fighter and going 3 wins / 3 losses from hopkins onwards.

    johnson
prime weight -super mid / light heavy (162 to 175)
fought hopkins at - middleweight (160)
    johnsons record at 160 + from hopkins onwards - 19 wins / 14 defeats / 2 draws
the defeats have come against people of the level of ottke, woods, shieka, gonzales, harmon, branco, vanderpool, Kiwanuka, sosa :rofl
