you mean if a guy has trouble making weight? Well height and reach is good only if a guy knows how to use it. There have been tall fighters who don't fight tall. Hearns and Foster were two famous guys who knew how to fight tall. They were great. Although height and reach makes a man vulnerable to the body.
if your tall but fight out of a crouch then that can make **** all difference. But if you've got weight on your side and you cant use it then you could say the same of that.
Lets see tonights outcome when Donaire uses his height and reach advantage to take on Concepcions weight advantage. Donaire is gonna murder conce imo
A good fundamental question. i will regard weight as dry weight. I will also assume that there are 2 fighters one with each of the above advantages and that both know how to use them properly. Lets think about examples by dividing fighters to 2 groups : Group 1 ( (Dry) Weight) : Tua , Tyson , Marciano , Frazier , Orlin Norris , Chris Byrd. Group 2 (Height and reach) : Paul Williams , Thomas Hearns , James Shuler . I think that now the answer is obvious and i didn't know myself at the beginning. but maybe its because weight can vary much more than height and reach and is also easier to change. For the unaware/unwise reader fighters like the Klitschkos , Lewis , Valuev , Ali , Foreman are deliberately not in group#2 from 2 reasons : 1. they also have weight advantege also because of their height over most opponents. 2. their reach (maybe except Ali,Lewis,Foreman) is not that big related to their height and related to their weight.
