I know about Mosley's tooth excuse, that was live in an interview though a lot of people try to justify this stating he moved aside so that his boss at the time could fight Floyd instead.

Manny's situation's well known enough and no-one can really say for sure that either fighter turned down the fight, it's just a case of whose excuse you want to believe. The fans are the only losers here.

However, I've NEVER heard of Miguel turning down the Floyd fight. I know when asked in interview's he'd state that his management would decide but that was his response in every public interview, he's too humble a fighter to brazenly call out (though it may have helped him). It just makes no sense that a guy would turn down the biggest money fight in the world in order to fight a dangerous Margarito for less. Both were high risk fights but one was clearly a higher reward.

Floyd was asked many times regarding fighting Cotto and he always dodged the question. This can't be attributed to an introvert character on his part.

I was most disappointed about that fight never coming about because though I thought Floyd would make Margarito look amateurish, Cotto had more patience, a top quality jab and solid body work to make the fight a hell of a lot more competitive than Mayweather-Hatton.

People on ESB love to oversimplify complex situations. Basically, they dumb it down to their level and think they can give an unbiased account of a sitatuion on 2-3 short sentences.

Such as this idiot below me....

I agree, the partisan bull**** usually gets in the way of seeing anything clearly as well.

As far as I'm concerned Mayweather is the best fighter since Whitaker but by not challenging himself he's lost the chance to be considered the greatest. Boxing lists usually rank 'greatness' rather than 'best' and so when it comes to their legacies Mayweather will probably be ranked below guys like Pacquiao and Hopkins on the basis that he didn't strive to show the potential I believe he had.

This isn't saying that Floyd never fought anyone of quality but he didn't try to fight the best fighters at their best. If he did this his All Time rank would be a lot higher, as it is I think he'll be ranked below Pacquiao, Whitaker and further back the Four Kings when he had the potential to be equal or maybe even above them.

:deal Amen. It's not like there's just a fight or two that didn't happen. Floyd's career will be remembered very much for the challenges he didn't meet. As long as MAB and Morales are revered by the fight fans, Pac's name will be mentioned alongside them.

Absolutely. And I think it's a bad shame too, as Floyd probably would have beaten those many think he avoided. And it would have added a LOT to his resume, possibly moving him past Pac. But he did himself no favors.

But he can still make up for that a little. Has time. But not much.
