Which do you think will better prepare me for boxing?

Should I go for a fast paced 2 1/2 mile run in morning, 15 rounds of boxing training in the afternoon

    or

No morning roadwork, 22 rounds of boxing training in afternoon (the additional rounds will probably be shadowboxing)

    What do you mean 'prepare'?

I'm pretty new to boxing myself, but I take it you haven't joined a gym yet and you just wanna get some fitness / training in so you're ready for it?

Well in that case, I would probably just do the first option.. if you're boxing by yourself without a trainer or other knowledgeable people.. you'll probably pick up some bad habits.

Run to your gym, alternate sprinting and running each block.

When you get there, start sparring 5 min rounds.

The best thing you can do for yourself between now and then is get comfortable in the ring and taking punches.

Aside from that, whatever you can to build anaerobic endurance. Sprints. Going balls out on the mitts or heavy bag for times longer than the rounds will be..

At least that way you won't gas out or be scared to death in the tournament.

3 weeks is probably not long enough unless you are in great shape already.
