Which is the bigger humbling for Australia? Mundine beating Green or Geale (twice)?

It was a great night man. Let me just make this clear; I always like Danny Green. And although I was also a Mundine fan, for all his promotional savvy and sublime skill, I do think the man is something of a dick. But, what turned me into a Mundine supporter (moreso than a Green supporter) was the absolutely blinded, hypocritical nature of his haters. "Blah blah blah, Mundine is a *****", "we would support him if he wasn't such a braggart", "Green's a real sports hero, we'd always watch his fights"... **** off. And I would tirelessly argue with them about the actual sport of boxing, constantly outnumbered by people who wanted to cluck their tongues, roll their eyes at me and "educate" me on the finer aspects of the ass-whipping that Green would eventually administer to Mundine. atsch Most of these ****s didn't even know who Felix Trinidad was.:-(

But I digress. The atmosphere in the stadium was ****ing electric. Celebrities were strolling around the ringside area, and my section was pretty close to the action. I was cheering for Mundine all night long and he got the job done well. As me and my friend were walking out of the SFS and into the main thoroughfare, I yelled out "NO MORE EXCUSES, MUNDINE'S THE BEST". Few could even bare to raise their heads and look at me, let alone tell me to shut up. The only ones who broke the silence were two dolled up Koori girls who laughed aloud and cheered. atsch Guess I was being a bit of a ****, come to think of it. I just couldn't pass up a chance to say I told you so to those know-nothing haters.

 

The post by Drunken boxer reminds me of that night. Firstly let me say i grew up watching Tony Mundine mostly live. I also had the pleasure of having a few coffee and talks with him at Coluzzi's and always found him to be a gentleman. I first met Anthony when he played league with the Australian schoolboys, he reminded me of his father, he was shy,quiet and well mannered, and when he turned to boxing i supported him.
A mate of mine who hates Choc with a passion, rang me and said he had bought the fight and would pick me up to watch it because he wanted to see my face when Danny put Choc in hospital. Also at his house were 3 other Danny fans and before i knew it i had four 100.00 bets on Choc.
The combined boxing knowledge of the four would not fit on the back of a postage stamp. At about round six i asked them if they wanted to double their bets and you could have heard a pin drop. To this day 2 of them never settled but i never expected any better from blind extreme haters.

Who exactly do you refer to when you say humbling australia? Are you simply talking about blokes that hate choc ? I am an Aussie and I was not humbled one bit when choc out classed green , Infact I was wrapped , I won some big money that night .
