Which is the more valuable win, Mayweather or Ward?

    A win over which fighter would be more valuable in the history books?Andre Ward or Mayweather Jr.?

    I'm thinking that if Golovkin fought and beat Andre Ward it would be more valuable, a greater accomplishment, than if he did so against Mayweather.

    -career high payday
    -PPV exposure
    -chance of taking this generation's superstar's 0

    the -'s:

    -fighting at a CW
    -criticism of fighting and possibly brutalising a much smaller fighter


    the +'s of fighting Andre Ward:

    -taking the 0 of the 168 Super Six winner

    the -'s:

    -low reward
    -no PPV
    -higher risk than fighting Mayweather

    Yeah, but my point is, which is the better win in terms of boxing, business aside.

    Is 'he beat Andre Ward' better than "he beat Mayweather Jr." 10, 20, 50 years from today.

    To boxing historians or casual fans?

    To boxing historians beating a much larger Ward would be much more impressive. But casual fans will not remember who ward is (if they ever knew) in 20 years.

    Ward is obviously a bigger win for Golovkin

    It would be embarrassing if Golovkin lost to Mayweather but not nearly as bad if he lost to Ward

    Well how about with Golovkin out of the equation.

    Another WW beats Floyd vs A SMW beat Andre, which would go down in history as the greater win? If that was the only loss both fighters (Andre and Floyd) had until the end of their careers.

    Reason I'm asking is because I'm watching some of Ward's fights and Ward seems the much more difficult fighter to beat. The weight difference playing a role of course.
