You make your choice , which kind of a quit is worse : 1) Calling it a career while still close to the prime . or (exclusive) : 2) Calling it a fight in order to "live to fight another day" , and hence , potentially allowing the career/prime to last longer when it probably is a lost case or too dangerous . Remember : why were stoppages invented for ? aside from the obvious 'KO' ?
This thread stems from the Duran threads floating around the board lately , but also from the accusations about Vitali , and the pass that Lewis but much more disturbingly Marchegiano and others get after quitting while not much removed from their prime .
Quitting a career while still in good shape opposed to quitting a fight while in a bad state . Does it still depend ? on what ? the circumstances of course , but try to regard it as some sort of an average case of each of the above . Think of Marchegiano as an example to a career quit , and Duran or Vitali as an example to a fight quit .
Yes this guys is serious, you should see the debate he had with me on the Vitalis trainer on Ali, thread. He came out with gems such as Ali cheated his whole career Purrity would beat Ali etc etc etc This thread is an indirect insult to LL for retiring rather than Vitali a rematch.
