I realize some fights qualify on both counts (Corales/Castillo, Ali Frazier 3 ...)
But in general, would you rather watch a fight where boxing skill is more on display (e.g. Mayweather/Gatti) or a brawl (e.g. Ward Gatti (1) ) ?

    Some examples:

    Type i

    Mayweather / Delahoya

    Mosley /Delahoya

    JMM/Barerra

    Lewis/ Tua

    Type 2

    Tyson /Douglas

    Hearns/Hagler

    Pavlik/ Miranda

    Tito/ Vargas

The ones listed under pure boxing matches were not pure boxing matches, and the ones listed under brawls were not brawls.

Yeah not great examples...de la HOya/PBF was more of a waltz than anything.

I thought Calzaghe Kessler was a really good, high skilled boxing match...a bit wild in bits, but generally technically very good and entertaining.

GAtti/Ward is type 2 for sure...

I voted brawls. But i like to see a mix. Good pure boxing with toe-toe as well.

Pure boxing in general cause most of the time the elite fighters dont just go in and brawl.

If we take for example Calzaghe vs Kessler as pure boxing, and Bika vs Codrington as a brawl, then i prefered the boxing match by far.

Pure boxing. It takes no skill you have a slugfest. There are some skillful fighters that slug it out from time to time though.

When I started out as a boxing fan, I liked the brawls best...the more I get into boxing, the more I like pure boxing...at the moment, I like pure boxing with some highly entertaining brawls thrown in...:D

I agree with this sentiment. I lean towards pure boxing so that's what I voted.

I like a mix. Highly skilled guys in a tactical, yet bruising encounter. Like vasquez-marquez type of fights.

Indeed - that's why Mexican boxing is so great! A skilled war without the embarrassing slugfest...

    Fights like Mayweather-Judah.

So yeah, pure boxing. But a competitive pure boxing fight where one has to outwork or chase the other, that boxes his way into a UD.

I like pure boxing. JMM-MAB was what I would call PURE boxing. It wasnt brawling, it wasnt running, it was boxing. Great defense, counters, accurate sharp punches etc. Plenty of punches thrown(aim of boxing is to punch).
