"The robotic Klitschkos" is repeated over and over on ESB. Which one is the robot? Wlad, Vitali, both? Both fighters are tall and fight tall. Let's look at Wlad. What about him is robotic? He has incredible speed for someone his size, and his combinations are silky when he throws them. The 1-2 is as smooth as it gets. He is very fast on his feet and uses footwork extremely effectively. Is it the repetition of his arsenal? He doesn't go to the body, he doesn't need to either. If you can get the KO without risking the body shot (far bigger risk for taller fighters), why do it? As for Vitali, name a fighter with a similar style to him. Name a fighter who throws the kind of punches he does with the variety he does. There is no one. Does that sound very robotic?
Neither is robot, they have different styles, but both very skilled, can judge distance extremely well, timing, power, quick. Hated to see Vitali retire. Vlad is still fighting, will win the WBC title before he retires. Vlad has said he will retire whenever he goes down hill, or has a lot of injuries................Vladimir Klitschko is, by far, the best heavyweight in the world today...............
Watch some of the old fights of Vitali and Vlad and listen to what Steward had to say about both. Vitali was my favorite. They were both awesome, but they both had very different styles, although not as different as most think. Vitali was almost psychic in the ring, he seemed to know whenever a fighter was going to through a punch. Steward taught both Lewis and Vlad how to clinch. If the Povetkin fight I was frustrated because I knew that Vlad could have knocked Povetkin out at any time in the fight. He had Povetkin out on his feet. In so many other fights Vlad did not do much clinching.............good thing the ref let Vlad clinch, if not, Povetkin would have been knocked out in a short fight. Even the well known Klitschko hater Teddy Atlas told Povetkin he was not ready for Vlad. Povetkin refused to fight Vlad for a long time even as the mandatory. Actually, when Steward was commentating he had a lot of good things to say about Vitali, and ,of course, Vlad..............Steward always said that he wanted to train Vlad and as soon as Lewis retired he would train him, which he did. He also wanted to train Vitali, but Vitali stayed with his old trainer..........
if anyone it's Wlad and his jab n' grab style Vitali was awkward, methodical and utter badass with his hands down stance. not robotic at all
Wlad is the robot since switching to Stewart as a trainer. Wlad can potentially do smooth things on offense but he doesn't in favor of a safety-first style(which really is only safety-first due to the very poor level of opposition at HW now, Wlad still makes mistakes) that is extremely predictable. In the early rounds even if the opponent represents no threat whatsoever, Wlad will maintain his distance at any cost. He will lead with his jab, throwing around 35 punches per round in a slow affair. If his opponent tries to get inside on him at all, Wlad will rarely counter in favor of either leaping straight back out of range or will clinch the guy. He makes every effort to put his body weight on his opponent in the clinch. As the fight goes, he will mix in his left hook and straight right hand more, though he will never truly open up big time due to his fear of getting caught and questionable stamina. Never goes to the body, never engages on the inside. Rinse and repeat. For a guy with ridiculous KO power, he fights with an ugly, boring, and often ref-enabled robotic style.
Both Klitschos have average skills. Where their abilities lay is in their size.Knock off 6" of height and they are both ordinary fighters.
A SMW called Lolenga Mock was able to knock Haye on his ass. Wlad was **** scared and never came close to dropping him in 12 whole rounds.atsch Wlad is more robotic than an old rusted up Carl Froch.
