I would never write off these guys, they're big but also talented especially Wlad, they're a problem for any heavyweight in history,i'm certainly not putting them down.
Well regarding Wlad taking his foot off the brake and being aggressive against Chambers i would suggest that by then Chambers was there for the taking and that he should have been taken out much earlier.

While I think both would lose to Ali, Vitali would do better. Vitali frequently throws arm punches, and thus, is better at throwing punches when he is not set. This is crucial as Ali does not stay still. Wlad can not punch well on the move, he needs to be set to punch. Even jabbing, Wlad needs to be planted. This works extremely well against the modern heavyweight who is generally a fat plodder; but Ali would give him too many angles. Ali is not going to stand there eating jabs through his guard and getting clinched like a ******.

I also think, that While Ali was not a huge hitter, he hit hard enough. When he landed, it would phase Wlad. Wlad gets stopped. Vitali would take more punishment and if he does not cut, may see the end of the 15th round.

Wlad would do better IMO. Vitali is a lot slower than Wlad of hand and foot and I think Ali can box circles around him, I think Ali would win a wide decision. I still think he would beat Wlad, but it would be a close, probably boring fight. I think Ali would win a close decision, his overall speed being the main factor.

Ali was at times said to play down to his opposition... Wlad often more so. This is something that :think and it's really the biggest ?'mark I have about Wlad's ability. Why didn't he take the foot off the break earlier? I guess we'll maybe get an answer against Peter and whom ever else he fights.

Um, I often consider this scenario and it leads me down one path.. Ali has no reach or height advantage against Wladimir, meaning he has to get close to throw and won't be as far out of the way as he'd expect when he tries to snap-back. Also, Wlad isn't one known for 'chasing' - anyone, ever. This puts the fight for me in the 'Joe Bugner' territory, to which I have to say I hope Wlad is better then Bugner, because Bugner took the fight to 12.

:good i can't believe people still go on about that bloody glove ****.

it was the illegal smelling salts that saved ali from getting knocked out.

Prime for prime they would both be tough match-ups for Ali but I feel that Vitali is better and he'd give Ali more trouble.

Quite right.I'm Ali's biggest fan but some of his fights were plain boring because he was so much better he could basically do what he wanted,a bit like PBF in a way. However when he knew it was all on the line against very good opponents which both the Klits certainly are,he was usuall spot on.
