So I was looking up some Roy Jones fights on Youtube and the like and I noticed two things.

Firstly, just how amazing Roy Jones was.

Secondly, boy did he like like fighting bums.

Now I know that Jones beat the likes of Hill, Toney, Hopkins. I thought just how good the chap was watching it too. Like everyone, I was amazed at his overall skills.

But just look at the crap he fought. Rick Frazier? Bryant Brannon? Danny Garcia?

Vinny Paz doesnt light my fire and Mike McCallum was over by then.

When Benn, Eubank, Collins, Michalczewski were the main contenders at SMW, (Admitedly im European) European fans were dying for those fights to happen. But it never went down.

Now before I get ranted at this isnt a " Roy Jones is **** " thread.

So any other contenders for Greatest dodgeing Champ?

i think he did actually make a mess of his pants when he saw Collins wanted to fight him!! No doubt RJJ is a tru great tho. Would have been awesome to see RJJ vs Calzaghe at 168 both in there best spells of the career, and i know some people think RJJ would just have run away with it but i honestly don't think he would have that much success against Joe.

Why didn't you ask how Benn, Eubank, Collins, Michalczewski where dodging Roy? And Michalczewski wasn't a contender at SMW.

  4. He wouldn't have. Jones always had a problem with southaws and Joe is leagues ahead of any of those who Jones faced - two of whom knocked him cold.

For a caculating 'legend' you need look no further than Bernard Hopkins. He knows who he can beat and who he cannot; his career is a perfectly executed deception of his lacklustre talent.

you hit the button there mate, Hopkins is a *****! Pulling out of a fight with joe in 2002, when everything had literally been sealed, he knew then and he knows now who the better boxer is, and hopefully we will all find out in April!

Other than Eubank who lost his spark after Michael Watson, the other three all went after Roy with a passion. Oversight on DM weight is right, yet Jonesy did dodge him.

If you read the thread this isnt a diss at Roy Jones as I said. If i recall Collins is Irish and the Tiger is Polish. Big British bias there aint there Guvnor.

Yeah, you're right. Making a topic about how Roy Jones dodged every fighter from UK (and one from Poland) isn't very smart, no matter where are you from :good

Roy and the other guys spent so much time arguing about who would travel to where for a fight - that a lot of the better fights that he could have been in went down the drain.

But at that time - Roy had a point. He was the best in the sport - so if you wanted to make a fight - you needed to come to him - not the other way around.

Dear me, 2 of the 4 main dodged contenders were from one of europe's largest nations and biggest boxing cultures. Now lets not decend into childish purile baiting. Especially as you Avater has a bloke who would last 12 rounds with any of the afore mentioned fighter.

P.S. Benn beat every American he fought, including two former World champs. So lets not get silly, eh?

Jones dodge DM - you can't be serious.

I guess he did this because he didn't want to fly over seas for the fight. Well - DM didn't want to make that trip either. So both of them are at fault for not making the fight.

My point is that it's not JUST Roy's foult that those fights never happened. And even more, Roy have had every right to have bigger demands - he was the draw - deal with it.

P.S. Roy has a lot better resume than every fighter you mentioned in the original post.
