but a guy can't be "ducked" if he only fought one fight in the US. there's no intent, even if it was Edison Miranda.
you have to earn your shot, exactly like ricky hatton did when he left frank warren and showcased himself in the US before earning his career-defining fights against pac and floyd
that is why the german formula of fighting almost exclusively in Germany - ottke, michalweski, stieglitz, sturm and Abraham (at MW) - exists. they can make a lot of money by taking the path of least resistance, and so long as they have a paper belt, they get a lucrative TV deal.
frank warren followed this formula too, which is why fighters who fought under his banner never fought the crème of the crop and boxed almost exclusively in the UK, unless they turned the screws on warren (hatton-tszyu, Enzo mac-haye, cleverly-kovalev). but those that did leave warren (hatton, khan) and crossed the pond, found what they were looking for - a chance to test thermselves against the best - and not just the best warren was willing to put them in with

Pretty much this, with a few personal exceptions here and there. Maybe add Fernando Montiel in there. I’ve always had a soft spot for him for some reason.

Adrian Dodson, won his first 18 fights including in his 12th fight a TKO win over a 43-4 Lloyd Honeyghan (Honeyghan retired after that fight).

The only "title" Dodson won was the WBO Intercontinental and was beaten in a WBO world title fight by Winky Wright and his career went off track after that fight, he was later DQ'd for biting his opponent in a commonwealth title shot.

Dodson finished his career with 25 wins (17 KO) 6 defeats (4 KO).

There was some interesting stories about Dodson back then.. like he drunk Bulls Blood LOL

I always quite liked Audley Harrison as a person. Seems a nice family guy - just didn't have the fighting spirit.

I'm looking forward to Wilder knocking Joshua out alt. If Wilder is as bad as you alts and Joshua fans claim then why won't he fight Wilder for his prestigious WBC title?

Abraham has tested himself against the best and he had to move up to do it because Arum was scared for Pavlik. Abraham didn't ever take a path of least resistance.

Arthur didn't have to earn anything and it didn't matter if he had one fight in the US or zero . Him vs Pavlik was one of the biggest fights to be made in boxing at the time.
From my memory , it wasn't Abraham , but Arum and Pavlik that stopped that fight from happening .

I always thought he was the archetype for a contender/journeyman.

    A technically sloppy boxer? Yes.
    A bum? No way.

that's like saying Hopkins v. Calzaghe wasn't made because of Hopkins...
Abraham, like Calzaghe, were high risk, low reward fighters due to there not being known outside of the continent

outside of Abraham's fight in the US against Miranda, his MW resume and trajectory mirrors that of ottke, sturm, michalweski and stieglitz.
saying "Abraham didn't have to earn anything" is just pleading ignorance to how the business of boxing works
