Baer knocked him down with sloppy right hands ,the majority of them didn't have full power behind them.Maxie was clowning around enjoying himsef, knowing there was nothing coming back that he had to worry about.

why are you ranting about this to me

Bruno and Briggs barely landed a shot on Lewis, Holy doesn't hit that hard and was old, Mercer was old, Vitali's power is vastly overreated

I wasn't ranting, Lachbuster, and certainly not to you. Your comment was just a good segue into what I wanted to say, Apologies if it seemed I was having a go at you.

But I must take issue with a couple of your points. 'Bruno and Briggs barely landed a shot'. Really? You might want to watch those fights again. Bruno was ahead on the cards. When Frank was ahead in a fight, it wasn't because he was sticking and jabbing and potshotting with light jabs. The opponent would have taken some punishment. And the Briggs fight was a back and forth slugfest. If you recall it as being one sided it might be because Lewis didn't go down. Shannon landed plenty.

Mercer old? Maybe, but not as old as Walcott or Moore to give examples of two ageing heavies who were able to deck a champion whose chin is generally recognised as being granite. And 35 isn't that old for a heavy who turned pro at 27 anyway.

I can't say if Vitali's power was overrated or not. I was never hit by him. But it certainly looked like he landed some mighty wallops

Holyfield didn't hit hard? He hit hard enough to deck Tyson, Bowe, Mercer. He had Foreman in more trouble than anyone else in career 2.

Anyway, although we don;t agree on this, as I say I wasn't intending to have a pop at you. Not in my previous post, at least. This post is, of course, intended to help you see the error of your ways, however.:).
