consider 2006. PBF is pound 4 pound king..but is he the one who had the best resume that year? that honor belongs to pacquiao who dominated the 2nd and 3rd installment of his trilogy with morales..PBF is the best p4p fighter in 2006, but there is no historical significance (major component of ATG) in his fights with judah and baldomir...

If you do a search of all-time P4P ratings in Google, or look up some magazines with the same kind of ratings, in most cases you will see their records/achievements being discussed as one of the reasons of their inclusion.

Lewis - as I said previously, greatest at particular weight, in this context is not the same as P4P (regardless of weight).
Floyd in 2006 - Same with P4P at particular moment - it has a different meaning than in all-time comparison.
But all-time greatest in most cases is understood the same way as all-time P4P best by most people, from whatever ratings I've seen with either variant in the title.

in my opinion, in p4p rankings consider only his primest prime...thus delahoya in his 1998-1999...

if you consider achievements in p4p rankings, why is bhop ranked below joe calzaghe? considering the accomplishment of hopkins in the last three years

you said that in some context ATG and all time p4p are the same...what is the main difference between them? or are they totally the same?

Again, this is at this particular moment. Say, Hopkins lost to Taylor, and thus sinked lower than Taylor in P4P ratings at that particular moment (and for a period of time), but you can't say that Taylor climbed up above Hopkins in all-time P4P ratings based on that particular win (or two wins, doesn't matter). So, current (at that time) P4P rating and all-time P4P rating, same moment of time, are different, obviously.
When Robinson lost to LaMotta, Jake climbed above Ray at that particular moment, doesn't mean he became better P4P in all-time sense as well.

my reason why i put put robinson over lamotta in an all-time p4p rankings is that i believe that the best form of robinson would beat the best form lamotta..i would not even look that the entire career of robinson to say that. all i have to do is look at his fights from 1948-1951

Who would you put higher on your P4P list, Robinson from his two best years and with no other part of his career taking place, or him losing every second fight outside of these two years? Or the Robinson as he was, top 10 ranked contender or champ from 1941 to 1961?

for me, an all-time p4p list is the same as prime vs prime list or who beats who list...

I once started a similar thread, so I'm going to defend this one.

Let's use a couple of examples in the heavyweight division, namely Lewis, Holyfield & Marciano

Now it would legitimate to rank them in terms of H@H combat as

    Lewis
    Holyfield and/or
    Marciano

But on a p4p List it would legit to rank

    Holyfield and/or Marciano
    and then Lewis

Holyfield's a great example, because as a heavyweight verses Lewis I would consider him behind him, but if one said who was a better P4P fighter, I would give the nod to Holyfield hands down.

agree, that why lewis never made it into the top 10 p4p in his career. but he accomplish dominance in his era worthy of ATG top 50

    IF pac-man hadn't gotten his @ss whipped in the 1st fight, there wouldn't have been a need for a 2nd and a 3rd...
