He did a bunch of years with the title and had to fight Tiger Flowers, Harry Greb, Ace Hudkins and Jock Malone. Pretty bad. If it's level of competition, check out how many times Bob Olson, who held the title for years, had to fight Sugar Ray.

My dad knew Carl "Bobo" Olson back in the day when they were kids growing up in Hawaii. Way before the Internet Age, he would verbally tell me about Robinson and Olson fighting. He told me that Bobo was a good street fighter in the neighborhoods on Oahu before he joined the marines. He also told me that Olson got very "punch drunk" and needed constant care and I'm pretty sure those matches with Robinson contributed to that. :/
