IDK like IB, as much as MAB was dominating the action if you think back to watching it live, there was a feeling Hamed could still land something special. I agree it was looking slimmer and slimmer but MAB definitley couldn't switch off. That's my memory of watching it live.
The better win on a resume is Naz by far (there is no shame losing to the Great MAB in a close fight). But the most embarrassing of the two was Haye, not for what happened in the ring (although I thought both fighters looked utter pathetic) but rather what happened after the fight. If you do not know why "the toe knows".
Naz's loss was worse because everyone though he would beat the crap out of Barrera at the time. Plus, he got hit with some really great shots and obviously nobody can forget the "who's you daddy?" incident where Hamed got put into the corner. I was already a Barrera fan by then but he went even further up in my estimation that night. His best performance of a great career. That being said, at least Naz didn't blame his loss on his little toe.
The Wlad vs. Haye "fight" really is an embarrasment for Wlad. No other legitimate heavyweight champion in my lifetime would have let Haye hear the final bell.
SB Nation had scored the bout 117-109 for Klitschko. Wladimir also took the fight 117-109 on the HBO scorecard. There would be no surprises when the official cards were read as they came in 117-109, 118-108 and 116-110 all for Klitschko. and add to the fact that they were in Germany. The judges would naturally favor Wlad since they're mostly full of crap over there
I had Haye winning 2 rounds, but Haye was more embarassing because he made his heavyweight career off being a knob.
Because he outpunched Wlad in 3 or so rounds, and tehre were a lot of rounds of low activity from both fighters Pretty sure even the German judges didn't have it as a shutout atsch
I think Hamed's loss was more embarrassing. Both Hamed and Haye were reduced to leaping in with wild haymakers in the hopes of a miraculous one-punch KO, but Hamed was getting humiliated while doing trying to do so. His head was on a swivel so to speak, and whenever Barrera connected it wobbled Hamed's head around in comedic fashion. This was made worse by the fact that Hamed was actually trying to win and was still losing, while Haye seemed content to go the distance without really taking any chances or trying to win. I also dispute the idea that the Hamed-Barrera fight was a close one. The eight-or-so rounds Barrera won were decisive and clearly in his favor, whereas the few rounds Hamed won were all fairly close and went to Naz by virtue of Barrera's inactivity more than anything else. Despite the moderately close scorecards, the fight itself wasn't very competitive in actuality. At least, that's how I interpreted it.
everything about the haye fight was embarrassing and his toe excuse hamed lost, wasnt dominated.. and took it like a man
yes, everyone will remember the millions they made, not the embarrassing performances they gave and the millions of bull**** statements that spewed out their mouths leading up to it
