I really like Kelly Pavlik, but to be honest, I didn't know him hardly at all until the Miranda fight. I like him, but I haven't followed him for very long.

Conversely, I've been FURIOUS at HBO, DiBella, etc. for the garbage that was the "Bad Decisions" bandwagon for several years.

So I have to say I am more happy that Taylor lost than Pavlik won. Now that I know Pavlik I really like and appreciate him, but

Im a boxing fan first and foremost and thus am happy for Pav, am also thankful for Taylor. . . look at his list of opponants as a young champ Hops, Winky, Oumma and Pavlik - the dude give the fans the fights they want (with the expetion of Spinks - but I blame Winky for not taking the rematch).

Taylor was not a "fraud" - thats just ignorant. . .he doesnt have a "weak" chin - the dude took ALOT of hard punches from the biggest hardest hitting MW in the game today - and he was one punch away from stopping Pav in the second round.

Thos so called fans shittting on either one of these guys need to wake the fukc up.

Good post. Lets remember that Taylor took on Bernard at a younger age than we expected, fought him twice, fought Winky, and fought Pavlik. He gave us the fights we wanted to see.

I am a Taylor fan and was pulling for him, so I was sad that he lost. Nevertheless, Pavlik's win has apparently generated alot of excitement and buzz for the sport of boxing. Every now and again, a certain personality in boxing comes along and catches the attention of the casual boxing fan. Pavlik just may be the kind of fighter that gets alot of people interested.

Damn. I thought Taylor lost to Hopkins and Wright. But I didnt take it personal. I never hated the man. At the same time, I didnt have a favorite going into the fight. I was just happy it was entertaining.

And lets remember that if Taylor didnt have balls and pride, we would still be waiting for him to fight Pavlik while both of them fought irrelevant fights and we the boxing fans waited.

I am very happy Pavlik won. I have been saying for a couple years that he would be the next 160 pound champion. I'm also glad Taylor is gone. The middlewieght division is one of the most prestigious in the game, and I don't thank Taylor did it justice.

exactly, the dude laid it on the line and lost to the more determined fighter - no shame in that .. . the shame would have been if he came up with BS excuses to avoid Pav to begin with. . . cant ever imagine Taylor saying "Who has he beat???".

Anytime a fighter wins one questionable decision, let alone a series of questionable decisions, the sport suffers in the eyes of the public and people think back to the 'fixed fights' days of the past.

If the health of the sport doesn't matter to you, how was it said, "so-called fans," that's your business. I care about the sport and have covered and followed it for almost 30 years. Taylor's string of BS decisions hurt the sport's legitimacy, AND THAT, I do take personally.

HBO wanted to get rid of the 'old' and 'unmarketable' Hopkins. And everyone knew of the rift between former HBO employee DiBella and Hopkins. All of this was common knowledge. And that's why, I feel, Hopkins got robbed twice, particularly in the first fight.

I don't like unjust decisions. Another one that comes to mind is Toney-Peter I.

I don't care about race or any of that crap -- I care about the better man winning. I was disgusted when Chavez 'drew' with Whitaker, when Toney 'lost' to Peter in their first fight, and I was extremely disgusted with Hopkins-Taylor I, and the subsequent 'reign' of Taylor. Taylor had a lot of potential but he's been ruined by DiBella and HBO, IMO. And by his own inability to listen to Emanuel Steward.

Jermain seems like a really good guy, or at least he was. But he's gotten a lot of stuff undeservedly, IMO. Let's hope this loss was the 'wake-up call' he needed to get his edge back and start working on the huge weaknesses in his game he never tightened-up in the past.

No buddy, if he didnt fight Pavlik his career would be as good as done. There was nobody to fight but pavlik dont you get it, that was his last fight at middleweight, the last thing he could do for himself was duck pavlik, then go to supermiddleweight known as ***** and a FRAUD! But thankfully, he got what was coming(so did HBO), took it very well and now people have no right to call him a fraud or a *****.

Taylor is not a fraud. He fought 2 very close decisions that went his way against b-hop and a close fight with winky that could have gone either way. He clearly won the next 2 fights although it was ugly. He fought a great fight on saturday. He showed skill and guts almost won but Pavlick was too tough. Taylor will be back. He was not the best champion and not an all time great but he is no fraud by any means.
