I'll show my belt to everyone . . . have my picture taken and be placed on the front page of every newspaper . . . saying that I'm the new WBF title holder. It's normal to be proud and happy and elated . . .

. . . but I'm very technical about this . . . I feel I can't call and declare myself a "world champion" when there are two or three others calling themselves "world champions" in the same division. Clear?

That is one of the biggest problems in boxing period. I had one of my first shitty moments in trying to pull in new fans not long ago, and when asked "Who is the HW Champion right now?" well it took a few sentences to explain. When really you should be able to Bang a name down easy.

I fear that the IBO is slowly beginning the build up a little bit of credibility the way WBO did.

Since when did the WBO begin building up credibility?

It is as much of a joke as it has ever been.

The IBO had more credibility the day it started than the WBO has ever had in all it's days put together.

Some great boxers have given it credibility by winning it and making numerous defences.

In other words ducking out of fighting the best names in their division by defending a belt against guys of their own choice pretty much.

Until the WBO stops ranking dead people, and the likes of Steve Foster jr and Ricky Burns in it's top 10...... it has absolutely no credibility whatsoever.

I still like the NABF. That title does not have the prestige it had when guys like SRL and Frazier, et, held it, but it is still a legitimate stepping stone. An NABF title holder will usually end up getting an eliminator for a WBC title shot.

This guy has a point, I tend to agree. Everyone knows the true value of these belts, but for fighters coming up in the game, step by step, these belts do have some signifigance.

Btw, Taylex, this option: 'Hatton's transferable imaginary P4P title' made me :rofl, well done, brother. :thumbsup

Is that equivalent to a British Commonwealth or European title?

Always happy to put a smile on your face. Are you a Witter fan? They are hard to find on ESB.

All the belts are meaningless, including the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF.

Personally I give more credibility to these and other domestic belts than I would to the minor ABC belts, which seem to hang around the waist of certain promoters rather than fighters.

Having said that, I do believe that the IBO belt is gaining in credibility, thanks to some good fighters who wear their belts, and their computer rankings.
