In the 80s, Dwight Davison deserved one between late 79 until he lost to Robbie Epps in 81.

As I posted on a similar thread a few weeks back, Kevin Finnegan was more than deserving of a shot.

In those 3 years how many fights did McAvoy have at middleweight? And when was he ranked there?

    1934 at MW

    1935, 36 & 37... yes at L-HW...

    1938 at Both MW & L-HW.

    1939 back at L-HW

everybody knows/knew Mac was a MW first, cum L-HW.
so he still qualified at MW and especially in 38 to answer your question.

It has been written numerous times that McAvoy was never given a Shot at MW. why should I/we think he shouldn't have?

But how many fights at middle did he have in those 3 years ? It's my understanding that Joe Bamford was essentially a super middle.

I said until he lost to Epps in 81 he deserved a shot.

The Sibson title eliminator was in 1982.
