Which middleweight in history could go 10-12 rounds with GGG that includes them takin

Greb, Monzon, Hagler are the usual suspects. Hopkins was a born survivor and crafty as hell.

I really want to see Golovkin in with somebody that is going to test him. At MW I see nobody. Canelo might be good for a few rounds.

 

Plenty. Beating him is one thing, but only surviving is much easier and manageable.

While I think Golovkin is the real deal and will end up an ATG if he continues like this, a fighter looking just to survive till the end has a lot easier route to his goal than a guy that's expected to try and win.

 

I think Robinson, Toney, Hopkins, McCallum, Hagler and Monzon could take him the distance and some of those guys might even have beaten him. Especially if the proposed time limit is 10 or 12 rounds. You're talking about 6 men who between them survived 579 bouts with only one stoppage. And that one Stoppage was Robinson's 13 round loss to an ATG light heavyweight when he was past prime. Not only were the above men durable beyond reason, but some of them even had success in higher weight classes and beat plenty of hall of fame champions. Christ, Martin Murray took him 11 rounds and he was a 32 year old contender with average ability.

 

I like GGG and already consider him a top middleweight h2h, but he is knocking out very overmatched opposition.

When a fighter is in the ring with the mindset to survive it is extremely difficult to get the stoppage.

If Martin Murray can almost go the distance, then so can plenty of others.

Hagler's body was perhaps most tested by Mugabe in his final successful defense, and it was John who gassed and crumbled at the end. MMH had such a chin on him that there were other opponents who simply gave up on testing it, and The Beast wasn't about to risk a fractured hand like Hearns. Overpowering MMH simply didn't work. Antuofermo gassed him late with superior conditioning in their draw, while Duran applied cagey brilliance.

If Antuofermo gets through 10 to 12 rounds against GGG without getting cut in a way that affects the outcome, GGG's going to find himself in a rough situation. Ditto Hamsho, who wasn't cut prone against opponents not named Hagler. Czyz completely failed to dent Mustafa's head or body, and Bobby was noted for producing amateur knockouts with his body attack.

And that too in a very tiny ring, which favoured Golovkin.

Give Murray a bigger ring and he'd easily make it.

 

What about what a Robinson, Hagler, Greb or Monzon would be firing back at Golovkin?
