I'm sure most top middleweights would.

Michael Nunn, James Toney, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank Sr., Chris Eubank Jr., Marvin Hagler, Carlos Monzon, Bernard Hopkins, Gerald McClellan, Steve Collins, Reggie Johnson, Roy Jones, Frank Tate, Mike McCallum, Iran Barkley, Sugar Ray Robinson, Gene Fullmer, Jake LaMotta, Harry Greb, James Degale, Bennie Briscoe, George Benton, Rubin Carter, **** Tiger, Joey Giardello, Mickey Walker and on and on.

Golovkin's competition has been terrible. As I mentioned in another thread, even someone like Nunn, who isn't considered an all-timer, beat the undefeated Frank Tate for the title and defended against Barkley, Kalambay, Roldan, Curry, Starling and an all-timer in Toney.

And that was considered a decent reign. I don't know if Golovkin has fought anyone during his reign who could beat all the challengers Nunn defeated. Hell, I don't even know if Golovkin could beat all the challengers Nunn defeated, or Nunn himself, and Nunn is largely forgotten these days and his comp wasn't seen as "stellar" or anything like that.

If Golovkin fought out of Germany, and didn't have an HBO deal, I think most in boxing wouldn't view him any higher than someone like Sven Ottke - who made a lot of defenses and probably beat better comp (frankly).

Golovkin still has a lot to prove.

Regarding Monzon, is there any case to be made that it was NOT Briscoe? Granted, Valdez decked Bennie to stop him, and scored a flash KD on Carlos, but for dealing with consistent power to body and head, Monzon and Valdez shared an awful lot of rounds with the Bad One. (In 96 bouts, Bennie was stopped once, in Valdez II), Rodrigo had an early career stoppage as a 140 pound teenager, then not again in 73 outings, Monzon was never stopped in 100 bouts, we all know about Hagler, there is no evidence that prime Dwight Davison could be knocked out (and in fact never was), and GGG may be fortunate that he's not competing in the late 1970's-early to mid 1980's time frame when the championship distance was in place and several blocks of granite were among the top middleweights.

GGG's good for his time, but Hagler ruled over a monster division where just getting to a title shot was an achievement in itself.

Murray definitely is better than given credit for but that ring was definitely very small.

A larger ring would have given Murray more room to move about, which he was trying to do.

    Best puncher Monzon fought ?
Tonna was a good banger ,so was Briscoe. Monzon's chin is a damn sight more proven than Golovkins!

Probably Rodrigo Valdez. Golovkin hasn't beat anyone of note yet,the division is **** poor.

Harry Greb would very much likely beat GGG who would have to catch up and ko
Greb. A very, very unlikely scenario as Greb went the last 280 bouts in his career without ever being stopped against bigger and much heavier light heavies and heavyweights, many HOFers. Astounding. Remember you can't hurt, what you can't hit...But irregardless of his opposition [not his fault], GGG belongs with the best MWS. Cruel, crafty, and DEADLY is triple G...

Mendoza, he's not beating ATG here. It's very easy to look good, when you're facing meh foes. Surely you should know this by now.

What big hitters has Murrary shared the ring wit to say that?

Its these kind of outrageous remarks is the reason why people are going in on him.

Arthur Abraham hurt Murray. You are overrating GGG and Murray.

GGG has such a poor resume. Forget stopping ATGs, there is nothing to suggest he even comes close to beating them.

So hard to say given his limited resume.

If Julian Jackson never ran into McCallum we'd be saying the same about him as well.

Or if Mugabi never ran into Hagler, or G never ran into Benn etc.

presumable those atgs ian gardner and amar amari, since they were fine for 8 rounders with him.
that said, 3g is a world class KO artist.

I completely disagree with that. He looks good because he is that good, and hasn't struggled at all like some past greats had vs a similar level of competition ( Their non-elite level opponents )

GGG has the best combination of power and durability in the history of the division. That much can be seen visually and is proven by results. If you disagree, show me one name who has a better combination.

There's nothing wrong with his stamina or focus outside the ring either so him gasing like Foreman or having outside the ring issues like Tyson is not an option. He's not a glass cannon type like Julian Jackson either.

The skills are there. I don't see GGG missing many punches, and he has fought his share of quick fighters. He's got a shotgun Jab, a sizzling uppercut, and brutal hooks to the body or head. The right cross does a great amount of damage too. His sheer physicality and seek and destroy mentality forces the other man to fight or run. Multiple exchanges is not an option. What does he have now, 22KO's in a row?

The truth is no Junior middleweight or Welterweight will move up and fight him. Hagler and Monzon feasted on these types, but it's simply not an option for GGG. Mayweather, Canelo, Cotto or Khan....smaller non-middles dare not share the ring with GGG as they know they are getting stopped, mostly likely in brutal fashion.

If Canelo can't grow a pair and fight at 160, it will only confirm what I said above.
