Thanks Burt, sometimes I wish I had seen all the fighters and bouts you did, at least were fortunate to have you here so we can read about them anyways.
some lesser lights that You couldnt leave your chin exposed with Florentino Fernandez Slammin Sammy Nesmith Dangerous Don Lee Phil Matthews Gretian Tonna William Caveman Lee Blair Richardson
I'm glad you mentioned Golvokin. Golovkin, and Jackson should top the list. Mugabi I have not seen much of outside of his match with Hagler. Hearns should rate as well.
IMO Graziano for the one punch shot but the other guys were more accurate and better at setting up punches....Graziano could wallop
McClellan KO percentages and the stats don't mean that much, I think the best way is to listen to the opinions of those they have been in the ring with
upon this we agree. dude could hit in any era and had the balls to throw his best punches against anyone.
sugar ray robinson said artie Levine him harder than anyone. julian Jackson, gerald mclellan, florentino Fernandez, Eduardo lausse, rubin carter, jock mcavoy are all big bangers but hagler would hammer them all
NO I don't believe he would "hammer" all of them at all, beat some yes, lose to some, and others too, sure, why shouldn't he? Hagler is not the greatest MW, but certainly one of many, MANY!!!
It speaks volumes that Graziano was closer to light-middleweight yet he's a popular pick. From everything I've read you don't get much more one-punch power than Bob Fitzsimmons and Stanley Ketchel. These guys could send you into the deepest sleep. Perhaps not the heaviest, but both Tony Zale n' Dick Tiger had real bone-rattling punches. They may not have got rid of their man in a flash, but they could administer the worst type of mugging; cuts, bruises and aching organs. Julian Jackson is one of the modern home-run artists. What he did to our Herol Graham will never fail to chill. Rodrigo Valdez deserves a shout. Not the highest KO percentage, but the only person to flatten Bennie Briscoe and only the second to floor Carlos Monzon. Solid technically, his punches were heavy and crisp.
Maybe, but he passed through the division too fast to be considered with the others. I think he took about two fights at middleweight in between light middle and moving up to super.
