I'm not turning this into anything blame the other guy that's calling people idiots. Dude I watch Boxing documentaries and I watch a Bareknuckle Boxing documentary. Like I said i'm learning more about Boxing. Not once did I disrespect Boxing. Others have disrespected MMA on here though. You have to give credit where it's due I was civil. Now the other guy tat called me idiot that's another story.
Yodsanan 3-K Battery "Little Tyson" the highest profile boxer to get into the cage. Former WBA Super Featherweight champ with a record of 58 wins (47 KOs) 3 losses and 1 draw. He's also fought Muay Thai at a high level although not elite level. He has failed to do much in MMA, albeit he crossed to MMA well after his heyday, but he's still very very dangerous due to his KO power and MT technique. A straight knee is faster than a 1-2 combination. It's the most basic and effective counter to a puncher. MT 101. It's quicker and faster, the puncher doesn't see it coming and it delivers more power. U also slightly lean back while delivering it as a counter which pulls your head safely out of range.
Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself. If you don't want to fight strictly with your hands there is Muay Thai, as well as, many other martial arts. The commonality between all though is that you don't pin a guy on the ground and beat him while he is half, or more so, defenseless when fighting respectably i.e. for sport. Which again is why I refuse to consider it a sport. You brought up street fights Amazing so let me break this down. There are two types of street fights. First, there are street fights to settle differences: in this case it is supposed that this is to be a respectable fight, i.e. when the other guy hits the ground or gives up it's over. Second, there is unwarranted street fights (random person, mugging, assualt, etc..): in this case it's whatever do what you have to do, but again this is not for "respect," or for sport. In the case of the second, if someone came up to me and tried to take me down MMA style, well there are no rules in a street fight, so even though I have a strong wrestling background, I would just gouge them in the eye. Same if they tried to choke me from behind....Nut Rip... Contrary to popular belief MMA doesn't work any better in a street fight. Like was stated though, the smart person avoids the fight. The entire point here being MMA hasn't evolved fighting at all, it has brought assault style fighting in and failed at trying to make it a sport.
Okay maybe the street fight thing I agree with you and that's it. I STRONGLY disagree when you said MMA hasn't evolved. In the 90's it was just mainly wrestlers in BJJ guys in it. Now you see alll sorts of types like, BJJ, Muay Thai, Kyokushin Karate, Judo, and etc. Plus in my opinion I think it's succeeded at being a sport. By the way I would love to see some crossovers. Kinda like the crossovers in MMA and Pro Wrestling.
Actually in some companies and Japan Pro Wrestling takes skill. In the modern times you had to have it all to be a wrestler.
You really don't listen do u? Actually, I think u don't wanna listen..... And as for the "C level athlete" comment...:-(
atsch You really don't read any of the response I make to your posts do u? We've been through all this before Gilroid....do u know anything about boxing history? U don't realise it but with every post u highlight your boxing ignorance and lack of general boxing knowledge. If u never heard of Yodsanan I guess u must just be a casual boxing fan who tends to watch only the heavyweights right? Nothing wrong with that but hold down on the strong opinions until u learn a little more about boxing Gilroid. Well let me throw that illustrious list of combat gods at u again. All the below guys were elite or top level Muay Thai fighters with anywhere between 60 & 200 pro fights before they made the switch to boxing. Some fought in both sports at the same time: Samart Payakaroon, Venice Borkhorsor, Seansak Muangsurin, Somrak Khamsing, Yodsanan 3-K Battery, Khaosai Galaxy, Khaokor Galaxy. Samson Dutch Boy Gym, Veeraphol Sahaphrom, Pongsaklek Wongjonkam etc etc etc the list is endless all quality Muay Thai fighters who crossed over to boxing and with little or zero Sweet Science experience fairly rapidly became world champions in western boxing.
Most of 'em have glass jaws, too. At we'd get to see some good KOs if any these clowns tried boxing.:yep
