What are you talking about? Sambo is not jiu jitsu? No, its not even brazilian jiu-jitsu even though it has similar techniques. You haven't even watched the fight have you? How to you call the part where Fedor put an arm bar on Hunt and was nice enough not to yank it to break it? How do you call a position where he wasn't nice and did yank his arm in kimura? Those are called dominant positions. The single part where you're talking about "hell" was quite amateure technique which Fedor had NO problem getting away from. Im not even trying to put Fedor on a pedestal here but thats how it was happening.
A couple things.... 1. Biting Coleman's face would be the last reaction that you would have, when as he was mauling you. Also, you aren't in a "I'm going to bite him" type situation. You are... where he puts you. 2. Coleman could knock just about every normal guy out there the **** out. He hits hard has hell. Don't be fooled, just because he isn't stupid enough to stand with strikers in a professional MMA bout, that he doesn't know how to throw a punch. I have seen him train with his hands before, and he hits like a ton of bricks. 3. Guys who's main practice is standing up is great... if they strike first, and land the right way. It isn't so great in most street fights, because you aren't going to have someone standing there trying to box with you. Most fight end up with guys getting tangled together, and that is where a great grappler is simply going to manhandle his opponent. It is 100 times easier to grab ahold of someone, than it is for that other person to land a perfect punch to end the fight. Also... for the record.... It isn't as scary fighting a guy who is going to stoke you out with one shot. You aren't going to see it coming, and you aren't going to feel it when it hits you. However, the thought of fighting a guy who is going to brutally smash you to the ground, and maul the **** out of you, including repeated cinder block headbutts to your lips, nose, and eyes.... is a much more fear inducing experience.
atschatsch Forget it - anyone who feels the need to clarify, when talking about MMA and combat, that jiu jitsu means BJJ doesn't interest me, sorry you sound kind of newbish. (double-post, sorry).
Widow Maker, I see your point...being KO'd is quite instantaneous and less...cumulatively painful, but in my experience a streetfight is not usually like an MMA bout but on the street...ie something uncontrollable will happen
Losing an eye wouldn't be a pleasant experience Combat Sambo emphasises a lot of leglocks for this reason - you're just in less danger when applying them.
But its less dangerous that having someones hands in your face, when they can do literally anything they want, surely? And SAmbo is for real Combat remember, not for MMA scenarios where your opponent has good knowledge of leg lock defense.. bit of a tangent, but hey
You're missing the point why leglocks are stressed in Sambo, its not because they are less dangerous, its because a guy can get up and run away with a broken arm, or if he wakes up from a ko or choke, he can't with a broken leg.
But seriosuly, this is what I've been told by an ex Russian army guy - I know its hard to get good Sambbo coaching or even information in the west, so I'm sure there's a strong possibility I'm wrong on that count.
But back to the original question: heres some outside of the normal group that appears when this is asked. Robbie Lawler - when he goes into smash mode. I do not want him "haning on the rim" to my unsconsious body like he did to Trigg. Hendo - you have no offensive options that will effect him. Cyborg - Bat**** crazy, like a Wandy up on meth for a week. Lindland - Bit a dude during a wrestling match at the olympic trials, if he bites there, he'll bite anytime.
