Mayweather would of been knocked out by Hearns and Hagler. He might beat Duran. He would lose by points against Leonard and I never seen Benitez fight.

Benitez, was adefensive genius man. go and see this guy on youtube if you have never seen him. Washed up by 25 though, chronic traumatic brain injury!! All these men were bigger than floyd. Why is it that floyd is brought up in these threads by folks with agendas?

Floyd Mayweather Jr. His style would create problems for anybody 135-154. Love him or hate him, he's a special fighter.

It's funny how many people think Hearns would KO Mayweather, but Hearns himself doesn't think he'd be able to. he gave an interview back in 2010 talking specifically on how Pacman and Floyd would fare against the Fab 4/5:

    Hearns’ thoughts on Mayweather:

“Floyd Mayweather Jr. is an excellent fighter. I will give credit where credit is due. I can not take anything away from Floyd Mayweather.

“Floyd Mayweather is a very smart fighter in the ring. He feints well, and he punches pretty good. I mean he’s pretty active while he’s in there.”

On how Mayweather and Pacquiao would do against himself, Leonard, Hagler, Benitez and Duran:

“I think that [Mayweather] would do pretty good. He’s got good head movement and I can’t put him down. … I have to give him his props. He could last.

“Manny Pacquiao, I think that he’s a pretty good fighter too. I think that he would do well. He would do OK. I think that he would do pretty good.”

On what his strategy would be in a fight against Mayweather:

“Against me, I would have to respect him. I think that he could go the distance with me. I would have to out-think him and definitely out-jab him. He’s a shorter man, so he can’t get to me.

“I would have to keep the jab on him and keep him at a distance and force him to use his head movement all of the time. Somewhere down the line, I would probably hit him with a couple of right hands.

“I would probably get him with a good right hand if not an average right hand. If I was to go to the body, you know that might play into what he is probably trying to do strategically.

“I think that if I got closer to him trying to land a body shot, that would be what he wants. So I think that my best thing would be to stay on the outside and just box him. But I think that he could go the distance with me.”

    On his strategy against Pacquiao:

“He would definitely have to come to me. I would probably just box him and keep boxing him and look for the shot. Yeah, definitely, I would box him and look for the opening. I would give him a good boxing lesson. [Laughs.]“

On who would win between Mayweather and Pacquiao:

“I would say that it would be an awesome fight between the both of them, but I think that Floyd should win the fight. If Floyd does what he’s supposed to do, then I think Floyd wins.

“If he doesn’t, then Pacquiao will take over the fight. Manny Pacquiao comes to fight. That’s all that he wants to do. But I think that the only way that Pacquiao could win is by knockout of Floyd.

“The way that Floyd is going to win is to out-box Manny Pacquiao and to make Manny Pacquiao fall apart.”

On whether either Mayweather or Pacquiao could beat him:

“[Laughs.] Listen, they’re good fighters, right? Can’t take anything away from those guys. But you know anybody who was in my weight division, you know, I would give them hell.

“They would have to be really fighting hard and be ready to absorb a lot of punches to beat me. Because, you know, I ain’t going to let anybody just come in and beat me.”

Those quotes from the Hitman were back in 2010. Dare I say that Floyd has actually looked better since than and I'm sure Hearns would have even more praise for this 37 year old version of FLoyd who continues to dominate boxing.

Based on how Hearns speaks favorably of Floyd, he thinks he'd be able to be very competitive against the stars of his era in the 80's based on his technical ability. He also believes he'd have a very easy time with pacman because he's more of a come forward type of fighter.

SRL mentioned a few months ago on ESPN that his brother, the same person who came up with the gameplan for SRL against Duran in their 2nd fight, doesn't think SRL could beat Floyd prime for prime at 147. Those are the words from his own brother's mouth.

Personally I think FLoyd beats Duran because he won't engage him in the same manner as Hearns did or SRL did in their first fight. It would be similar to Duran-Benitez at JMW, where Benitez beat him.

While Benitez is a terrific all around fighter with great technical ability and ATG defense, I think FLoyd beats him in a narrow UD.

Hagler shouldn't even be mentioned as he's a MW.

Personally I think that FLoyd probably would've fought at 135 or 140 for a much longer period of time if he fought in the 80's. The Fab 4 outside of Duran were all much larger men, and in the case of SRL and Hearns, they went all the way up to 175 and won titles. FLoyd should be compared to guys that are more his size from the 80's specifically Arguello, Pryor and Caesar Chavez Jr. Out of those 3 guys, I think FLoyd wins all 3 matches.

I was lucky enough to see Benitez fight. He is a defensive genius and an ATG in that department. I just strongly believe FLoyd is a better defensive fighter than Benitez, and it's becoming more apparent every year that Floyd might be the greatest defensive fighter ever, especially when you see how FLoyd is still fighting as the #1 P4P fighter into his mid/late 30's. This is uncharted territory for any fighter in the history of boxing, to be able to be considered the P4P best in the sport at such an advanced age.

Floyd can stand right in the pocket and deflect his opponents shots, he can use his footwork and lateral movement to evade punches, and he's very hard to hit if you pin him on the ropes and think you can just tag him there with his shoulder roll defense. Benitez was definitely someone who could be tagged more cleanly, and more frequently than FLoyd.

Floyd is also a better offensive fighter than Benitez, his punches are more accurate and he has better handspedd than benitez. I'd say their counterpunching and power is pretty close.

And i agree with you on the notion that FLoyd shouldn't be compared with most of the Fab 4. Those guys STARTED at WW and went several divisions up. It would be like asking how FLoyd would do against Andre Ward, essentially Hearns and SRL really started to fill out body wise by their mid-late 20's. That's the reason they campaigned at SMW/LHW and were actually successful in those divisions.

The only 2 guys from the Fab 5 that were close to Floyd's weight and body are Duran and Benitez.

Would be great to see. I'd put Mayweather in their bracket, I think that's the highest compliment you can pay anybody.

Pac lands just outside it, which is also still a massive compliment.

Impossible to compare him to Marvellous, but I'd fancy him to win against SRL, Duran & Benitez. Styles make fights and I reckon Hearns would be the most difficult fight for Mayweather of the 5, even though I wouldn't class Hearns as the best.

Depends tactically how they took the fights how they'd do against Pac. He can be outboxed, and I'd fancy Benitez would teach him a lesson. Same with SRL. Duran v Pac would be a belter and so would Hearns v Pac.

Ward against Hagler would make a brilliant fight, I'd fancy Hagler. Ward v SRL would make a good fight too, but I'd also fancy SRL to win.
