i kinda agree. very powerful. but what made the communist/anti-pro teams so good was becuase they fought 200-300 am fights and where there all year round. this doesnt mean that they produce better pro's....on the other end the u.s. awful olympic and world championship results. yet i doubt the proffesionals are going to be bad.

also the cuban boxing team was a force pre-communist break up. but in 92 the cuban gold rush was very special. what makes these great amateur teams is becuase the fighters are not persuaded to join the pro ranks.

if you could go pro in 60/70/80's they would just be another nation. cuban fighters and soviet fighters where regarded highly before. the cubes today are seen as boxing royalty on here. yet if pros were legal i doubt they would have the same agic and experience

not the most powerful teams but very good given the disadvantage are nigeria, ghana, south africa, argentina, thailand, japan.

i think a little different, they are or were so good, not because of the experience, they are so good because of the soviet boxing school, and the most important thing, hard discipline. they had allways to be in great shape, so they could focus on tactics and technical and skills in their fight camp

Here's my list with a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being best). I considered the quality of fighters, and the quantity of fighters being produced:

    USA 10
    Mexico 7
    Argentina 5
    Philippines 5
    Puerto Rico 4
    Australia 3
    Ukraine 3
    Russia 3
    Thailand 3
    Venezuela 3
    Italy 3
    Spain 3
    Colombia 3
    Cuba 3
    UK 3
    Ghana 1
    Ecuador 1
    Brazil 1
    Nicaragua 1
    Portugal 1
    Dominican Republic 1
    Panama 1
    Indonesia 1
    Armenia 1
    Canada 1
    Germany 1
    Uganda 1
    South Africa 1
    New Zealand 1
    South Korea 1

    no nation dominates

all usa got is mayweather really as a the top dog, who else have they got?

the best 140-147 in my opinion is pacman, 2nd best 140 i think is khan, he will beat any usa fighter at 140, (not easily against bradley but i think he will just edge it)

heavyweights really belongs to the brothers with haye having a small slice

general middle weights is really spread everywhere

i am think this in quality not quantity, usa certainly are going downhill in terms of producing quality boxers, i am still waiting for the next dynamite kid from them, expect it to see it soon

anyone with a brain will admit the usa has the best fighters right now....I agree the percapita argument and how we have better facilities....do we need to bust out lists of usa fighters since the 80's hundreds and hundreds...even today

    1.USA
2.Mexico in a slump but always has guys coming out in a couple years they will have a few guys int the pfp top 10. They still have more world class contenders than any other country outside the US.

    3. Puerto RIco is a distant 3rd but per capita is #1
    4. Phillipines Has the 2 guys in the top 10 pfp and arguably the #1 guy but not as deep as the countries above
    5. Russia if you put all of the former Soviet together they have quite a few contenders and the 2 best Heavys
    6. England They are ok but to put them 2nd is obviously Bias by the Thread Maker and ridiculous.
    7. Germany
    8. Argentina
    9. Cuba has some good guys and will be higher in a couple years
    10. Japan,Venenzuela

I would say USA has the history, followed by the UK, Mexico, and then Puerto Rico....the phillippines has exploded on the scene this past decade...and it's not just manny pacquiao, but also a slue of fighters on the world scene...
