We talk about Tyson V Ali, Foreman, Klitschko s, Frazier etc ..
But what about the guy's who aren't considered great fighter s- yet had style s that could seriously trouble Prime Mike?
Maybe not actually beat him but make him look bad ?

Mercer comes to mind. He had the physicality/mentality to stand up to Tyson's aggression. I don't think anyone is outboxing Tyson. Boxers will simply get overwhelmed by his hand speed/ power.

It will take a guy with a iron chin, strong jab and most importantly, someone not afraid that can back Tyson up. Ray Mercer fits that description.

With that said, I'm not convinced that prime Tyson doesn't still destroy Mercer. I just think Mercer is a non great that had the traits needed to win and he would come to fight.

    Tim Witherspoon
Long disciplined jab that keeps him off rhythm .
He's comfortable leaning , clinching and making it ugly if need be.
Very good chin, not easy to blow out.
    Sharp counter right hand.
The Witherspoon that almost beat Holmes could possibly give Tyson a long, miserable night.

    Yes excellent choice mate.
Mercer on a good night could definitely give him hard rounds.

Ike Ibeabuchi could've been a real tough night for Tyson
    prime vs prime.
Mercer and Witherspoon were vey good choices.
Shannon Briggs may have been an interesting
    nightfor Tyson also.

McCall would be interesting — iron chin, and see all Tyson’s stuff as a longtime sparring partner, almost certainly no ‘fear factor.’ Not saying he’d win but he might make it like Bonecrusher (who did make Mike look bad).

    I’d also nominate James Douglas.

I wouldv'e liked to see Damiani against Tyson. Big dude, all round skillset, gritty performances. I think he had the tools to make it interesting.

People think Tyson would have blown through Damiani, but I reckon FD was every bit as tough as Tillis & company which gave Tyson a bit of a go. In fact I think he was better, because of his size and versatility.

Many will disagree but I suspect David Tua might give Tyson a tough fight.
