Which of Hagler`s world title challengers would crack the top 10 middle ratings now in their primes?

Canelo has also never fought someone half as good as Duran was. Duran would force him to fight in a phone booth for 12-15 rounds, using every rough trick in the book to get under his skin. Canelo doesn’t see the final bell.

Didn't all of them crack the top 10? Those guys were all good. Obviously Duran and Hearns and Leonard were the top level, but Vito, Fully Obel, Hamsho, Sibson and Mugabi. They were top fighters. I don't think GGG could have 21 defenses with those guys. That is a whole different level than what GGG had to fight.

That is true. The difference between the top now and the guys below the top is wider than it was before. Guys were more skilled all around years ago, so even a guy who fought the champs were top fighters.

Sorry mate, my sarcasm doesn’t come across particularly well in written form! I agree with you.

Actually Marvelous Marvin Haglin made 13 successful title defenses, Leonard would have been number 14 had he won, tying Carlos Monzon record and needed one more to break it.
