Since 2016 these guys have contested for major heavyweight titles. By my reckoning Larry Holmes's 6'5", 255lb WBC #2 challenger Leroy Jones was in as good, or better, shape than eight recent world title challengers

    6'5" Gerald Washington 239

    6'3" Chris Arreola 246

    6'3" Arthur Szpilka 233

    6'5" Lucas Browne 250

    6'2" Andy Ruiz jr 255

    6'5" Charles Martin 245

    6'4" Eric Molina 237

    6'7" Dominic Breazeale 255

As said, 6'5" Leroy Jones was 255, he's actually lighter and smaller than Dominic Breazeale. He is certainly less fat than the three inch shorter Andy Ruiz jnr! And jones no different in shape really to Lucas Browne, chris Arreola. Ten pound lighter Charles Martin only looks a meal or two different in shape at exactly the same height as Jones.

Today Jones could be a legit champion. He represents what is required today.

Jones was nowhere near Ruiz`s level, he was just a basic boxer, Ruiz has much faster hands and good power.

Ruiz is an untested and unproven hwt. Only time will tell if he progresses or regresses. I can tell you this if he does not straighten up his act and get into shape there is only one longer term direction.

His weight hasn`t effected his hand speed, chin or power, fans put too much faith in body conditioning now, fundamentals are far more important than fitness training.

Silly comment. At a high level not being in shape will come back to bite you. Boxing is a hugely strenuous athletic activity. In a longer give and take tough fight Ruiz will fold. Would you think any athlete in any endurance sport should arrive 50 lbs overweight? Get real please.

Jones was a decorated Amateur. The American national boxing team coach quit his job in Amateur boxing to groom Jones into a heavyweight champ. Jones beat Mike Weaver then ran into Larry a great fighter and it ended his career. But Leroys challenger credentials up to that point were as good as anything around now.

Who knows what Jones might have achieved had the division been as bad as it is now?

Sure it’s exciting, but this is not a progression is it?

Charles Martin was a champion recently pretty much all of Holmes opponent would wipe the floor with him so yeah they'd be top ten.
