You can't say a guy has one of the greatest chins ever when the said chin was never really tested and Mayweather's was never really tested and against Robinson it will get tested over a hundred times, Mayweather only fought the best guys when they were no longer the best with maybe one or two exceptions, nah, this guy was no fighter, he avoided real tests like the plague. I think Ray fought many better fighters than Mayweather. Mayweather had good skills no doubt but he has nothing at all to threaten Robinson.

    Oh please.

Let's not do the fan boy stuff right now.

Mayweather's chin was never tested in an amateur and pro career that spanned 30 years? Add up the punchstats of all the guys Mayweather fought. How many THOUSANDS of times did they punch him in the head?

How many times did he go down? Never?

Please. How many times have we ever seen him staggered? Maybe once?

Mayweather's chin is fine. You haven't seen him take four or five or six punches to the head in a row and go down because he didn't let ANYONE he fought land that many punches in a row. They'd have hit him that many times if he allowed them to.

And don't overestimate Robinson's KO power. Half the guys Robinson fought went the distance with him. Basically the same as Mayweather.

This wouldn't be some barn burner. I'd take Robinson because he was naturally bigger (but not much) and he was more active and he was more of a crowd pleaser.

But Mayweather fought more top fighters than anyone in his era and he never came close to going down let alone get stopped.

Don't start this "his chin was never tested and he never fought anyone" ****.

Can't we just have an open-minded discussion once in a while?

Robinson didn't so much have that 1 punch fight ending power as he won knockouts with his pin-point accuracy and flawless technique. Not to say that he's feather-fisted because he did indeed have power, you don't stop Lamotta being feather-fisted. Robinson is held as the p4p GOAT not because of his record but because of his style. He was literally the perfect fighter. He could do everything from counter-punching to brawling. He wasn't good for anyone stylistically. Mayweather has problems with high volume punchers that's one of the many reasons the Pacquiao fight wasn't made sooner. Neither fighter ever lost at Welterweight. Unfortunately there isn't much footage of Robinson at Welterweight where he is said to look magnificent. The fight would be no walk in the park for anyone but I have to give the edge to Robinson because of his endless ****nal, I can't think of any weaknesses he had. He had the footwork, speed, defense, and chin(as if it mattered) to beat him.

I'm actually known for criticising Mayweather here so honestly, I would love to say Ray Robinson definitely beats him, but it's hard to say for sure.
I certainly agree that Mayweather only fought the very best when they were completely past prime.
SRR can win on the basis of bamboozling Mayweather on the inside by manipulating his movement in a dirty manner and potentially stopping Mayweather on an accumulation of punches (not a one punch KO), but I also see Mayweather outboxing SRR.

Mayweather poses a great stylistic threat to Robinson, Mayweather doesn't provide Robinson enough input that Robinson needs to adjust accordingly, Robinson would be the aggressor, and he was the slower man and quite hittable.

Mayweather's chin has been thoroughly tested by fighters known as very good punchers - Jose Luis Castillo, Shane Mosley, Marcos Maidana. The latter two made him do a bit of a dance, but Mayweather breaks the stagger very effectively, he knows how to distribute the force of the shots by rolling with them, not just with his upper body but also down to the ***** of his feet. He also is an expert 'hugger' lol.

There definitely isn't a better fighter that SRR fought, than Mayweather.
