Already teared up countless times thinking that Floyd may never fight again. Sad.

    He is the greatest.

You'd cry harder if he ended up 50-1 losing to somebody he would've schooled in his prime, though, wouldn't you?

Oh yes, that's why I hope he doesn't return - ever. It would be even worse than Ali losing to Holmes.

Well, I guess I'll just leave alone that Mayweather never in his life fought anyone the caliber of a Larry Holmes, but okay..

Who is your favorite fighter active and all time? Who got you into boxing? Have your tastes evolved over the years?

Johnny Tapia, Cristian Mijares, Israel Vázquez, Marvin Hagler, and Mikkel Kessler are my favorite modern-era boxers, that's my equivalent of Mt. Rushmore (yes I know there's one face too many, but there's plenty of stone left to carve another into the mountain )

As you can tell from that list, I place a high premium on classical technicality - always have, always will.

My dad got me casually into boxing early in childhood and I remember the media hype around Kid Dynamite and the Four Kings. It wasn't until the late 90's when the bantam-feather range was booming on HBO that I got sucked into becoming a diehard fan. I made a point to catch every Barrera/Morales/Hamed fight. I wanted to badly to see Prince Naz lose and was so glad it was MAB (whom I considered an underrated technical genius, and still do) that got the honors. Following their respective careers for a couple of years beforehand lent it such a satisfying backstory.

By the mid-2000's I was the full on pretentious boxing nerd you all know and love/hate today.

I really mean this with no offense whatsoever, but I REALLY REALLY don't think boxing is for you. I honestly think Kimbo Slice backyard brawling might be more up your alley. You seem to like fights with lots of action and nothing else.

You don't appreciate defense, you don't appreciate boxing skills.

Now I can appreciate people who love violence, cuz I like a good firefight once in a while but everyone and their mothers know that defense is the most important facet of boxing.

I think you should transition away from boxing and go watch some good Kimbo backyard brawlz.
