    Yes,Hearns-Duran for me too.

Like most,I expected Hearns to win,but not in such devastating fashion.

When I watched JMM KO Pac last Saturday, Hearns-Duran immediately sprang to mind,

Not the overall flow of the fight, just the ending....

A solid-chinned star boxer getting nailed with a perfect flush shot that he didn't see, and subsequently collapsing face first to the canvas, KTFO.

In both cases, I had the loser the slight favourite and if I was asked how they might lose, would have said by a close decision.

It easily has to Leonard-Hagler in terms of upset value of a P4P no1 7year reigning middleweight champion losing to an ex Welterweight champion who'd be innactive for years and looked pretty poor in his last fight.

The manner of Duran's losses were surprising but not the losses themselves

For me its Duran quitting against Leonard.

It was embarrasing and diminished Duran's aura of invincibility.

This post x2.......all of it.......though i can understand Leonard having a points win over Hagler.

I also remember reading/hearing that when a rematch with Hagler n Hearns was mentioned.....Hagler says no chance.....i aint going through that again.

    True ?

I was surprised Hagler had such a tough and close fight with Duran.

I was stunned at Leonard-Hagler. I didn't think that outcome was POSSIBLE.

How Hearns took Duran was surprising, but I was reasonably certain Hearns would win.

Same with Leonard-Duran II. The quitting was shocking, the outcome wasn't.

I'd watched a few fights as early as 1980 (Ali-Holmes and Hagler-Minter spring to mind), but didn't really get clued up on and into boxing until '86, so Hagler-Leonard was the first one of the fights I could actually say I had some slightly educated expectations of, going in.
    Obviously an upset.

But I reckon Hearns-Duran would have truly shocked me.
Hey, it shocked me when I first saw the highlight clip on a Hearns fight preview.
In fact I seem to remember first seeing it on an episode of "Saint and Greavsie" (UK postors of a certain age will know what I'm on about.) around '87.
