That uppercut Tyson had the misfortune of taking was a thing of beauty.
But it only rates as the "most brutal ever" if your boxing history goes back only to 1990.

One of the most powerful uppercuts is Valero on Antillon in sparring.

Jersey Joe Walcott's casual, walk-in left uppercut when he won the title - great snap, great technique, great timing, and on the button.

And Chris Eubank against Michael Watson II, R11. Another casual walk-in, absolutely picture-perfect arc he got on the shot and bang on the point of the chin, speed, everything. Tragic shot, left Watson crippled.

Tyson's was the best because it was so consistent and he set it up so well with the right to the body which dropped the hands just enough for him to get it through. It was also incredibly fast and accurate. Power wise, probably slightly less if not similar to Foreman's uppercut. But because of its speed, set up accuracy and consistency it was one of the best blows in heavyweight history. Tyson's punching prowess went beyond his pure power, and his uppercuts are an example of that. Similar to Joe Louis, whose power punching was so good because of his speed, accuracy, combinations and set up - see him land his uppercut followed by a left hook - devastating stuff, even if say Foreman hit with more pure power. Tyson's uppercut and general hitting ability was a thing of beauty for similar reasons.

    :happy on Mr Sandman's nomination.

Darn, Iron Mike, Joe Louis and Big George have already been mentioned...

Definitely not the best but some favourites of mine from active boxers:

Juan Manuel Marquez - he incorporates it so well into his combinations

Zab Judah - sneaky (good) as hell, has pop, and is fast

(*gulp*) Antonio Margarito - he churns the lead uppercut out like the Energizer Bunny or spam (eventually it's gonna hit something)

Eubank was done and had to haul himself off the canvas to throw that shot - the punch split watsons high guard and lifted him clean off his feet , his head was catapulted off the bottom rope and many believe that was the cause of the injury .

I cant think of a more dramatic/tragic fight changing punch or one that has caused so much damage , an awful moment.

Jersey Joe's ko of Ezzard Charles was indeed a picture perfect shot that lives on - an iconic moment in the sport like Robinsons left hook on fullmer.
