Frank only won a single title fight and got mulliered in his losing efforts.

McCaul was a head banger and only started to fight in the last few rounds against Bruno. When he did start to fight McCaul had Bruno in serious trouble. Bruno was hanging on for dear life.

Frank got lucky that night but fair play to him anyway.

Is he ESB Classic Section now the bible of boxing history????

There are plenty of sites with good guys and there's even more knowledgeable historians.

If The Classic is anything like some of the stuf I'm reading here I'll leave you to it.

Ask people who watched live as Bruno got his head ripped off and see what their opinion is.

I said fair play to Frank. McCaul, though, doesn't have a histroy of turning up to fights with a good mindset and Franks capitalised on that.

What about Frank blessing himself 900 times before getting his face smashed in by Tyson?

    As Bruno says:

"Haye will do what Haye wants to do. He'll be remembered as a very, very good cruiserweight. But heavyweight and cruiserweight are two different cups of tea. Harrods and Primark."

The Classic Forum is full of trolls. They have great input on historical fighters, really brilliant, that's why I've posted there so much, I love boxing history and discussing it with those who have knowledge of it. But their opinions on more modern fighters is abysmal.

Hey, I'm not overrating Bruno, I just said I think Vitali would smash him. I don't know what your agenda is but I'm being objective here.

You said he got lucky and then said fair play to him, make up your mind. There are no excuses, Bruno won. Credit to the fioghter that winse every fight, that's it. Imagine if you won a fight and then some **** just kept talking about how lucky you was, and you worked so hard for it.

No, not saying they're better, just that the fact String ack keeps saying 'this is what lots of people think' is no better than me saying 'this is what lots of people don't think'. Putting Vitali in the top 20, or 25, is completely unjustifiable.

Teeto, you have to agree; less regular fighting, les of 'the best bs the best' and some obvious technical regressions. I think it's clearwhy the moderngame isn't everyone's cup of tea.

And what's wrong with Frank blessing himself? Spinks shat himself as well. Mike Spinks. One of THE greatest fighters of alltine. Try dissing Spinks.

Fair play toFrank anyway; he fought TysonTWICE. I just think you're a bit of a mong.

Come on, Haye wouldn't even have turned up to fight against these kind of guys.

Can you really imagine David Haye vs prime Tyson... talk about a hot knife straight through butter.

That's an issue of modern boxing politics, I hate it too. I was talking about the opinions of classic posters of the actual fighters, not the modern dynamic of the game.

And lets be honest, people always look back with rose tinted glasses. You've read that write up by Tommy Loughran in the 40's right? He's talking about how fighters don't box like they did in his day and about how they don't stand and box, they just run, or something crazy. Now the 1940's is credited as the peak of boxing along with the 1980's by most people.

I guarantee that fighters of today will get loads of credit in 20 years and some old ass haters are gunna be talking of Marquez as a God and the new fighter as some joke. They'll talk about Haye and Arreola would lay out the new heavyweight sensation etc.

My opinion is as always, I celebrate boxing history, I love boxing present. I hate boxing politics, but I bet I would have hated it if I was born 50 years ago too.

    that's fair enough.

One thing that I do seriously dislike about todays boxing is the 12 rounds thing. Whoever starts talking about 12 rounds being a good safety measure as opposed to 15 will not even get a reply out of me.

I would love 15 rounds to come back, it never will and it bothers me a lot. I always think of the first Spinks/Holmes fight when Holmes is bladdering Spinks' torso in about round 10 or 11, and he gets through it, and actually gets back on top through to the last round. It took a CHAMPION to make it through those last rounds, not a contender. Whereas today he would have just had to have gotten through a round or two. That would have been impressive regardless, but what Spinks did, it's like you're watching it and you're on his bandwagon thinking ****, this dude is going through some **** in there, and you respect him so much at the end.

    Bring back 15 rounds.
