What I mean by the above is, I'm not looking for the hardest or the longest reach or even the fastest. I'm asking which of these fighters used it the best to control the fight. How about a top 3 from this list: Lewis Holmes Louis Ali Pea May Monzon Hearns Winky Quartey Buchanan Pep Loughran Benny Leonard Hagler
Holmes used to control fights behind his jab .A fantastic weapon that controlled fights from start to finish.
Holmes Sweet Pea Pep even though he not on the list Robinsons jab was great at maintaining range and controlling a fights
Monzon (top of the list for me) Holmes Mayweather (Although it wasn't a primary focus, Floyd controlled distance/pace with an excellent jab)
Holmes had a fast hard jab. Ali's jab may not have been as hard but he used it as a scalpel slicing up his opponents at angles. It was a quicker more skillfully executed punch than Holmes and the best jab in boxing history because of it.
Monzon and Holmes really used that jab, it was more than just a range finder. They could dominate rounds with the jab alone. Out of the list I'd personally put Carlos at the top.
