In my mind? Jack Dempsey hands down - although I'm sure Chappie Blackburn thought Johnson would be a nightmare for him?

I think they would all be tough and interesting fights....But I give Frazier & Johnson the best shot at beating him. I think he takes the other 3 all in late stoppages.

    Frazier
    Johnson
    Dempsey
    Holyfield
    Liston

Those are all pretty nightmarish matches for Joe. Impossible to say. He might - might - have the easiest time of it with Frazier.

In order of toughness: Holyfield, Frazier, Liston, Dempsey, Johnson.

The first three all beat him, Dempsey gives him hell and probably knocks him down before getting beaten himself and Johnson gets soundly beaten.

The would all pose him significant problems.

Perhaps Dempsey poses the greatest risk factor, but you could get a few surprises in terms of who beat him and who he comparativley dominated.

I prety much have the opposite order.

Holyfield brings the least to trouble him on paper.

Yeah, I know. I just listed them from most modern to most ancient knowing it would be the exact opposite of your list.

The problem is that they fight in a ring not on paper.

Liston or Frazier would give him the toughest fight and both have the best shot at beating him imo.

Holyfield would be game (as always) but he's too hittable and would dearly suffer in the late rounds.

Dempsey would make it fun for the early rounds but I see Louis taking him in the mid rounds.

Johnson, to be honest, has never impressed me on film and I've never seen what others see to put him so high H2H. I think Louis would have the easiest time with Johnson and brutally knock him out.

Dempsey for me. Jack often started fast whereas Joe could often start slow, guaranteed trouble for Louis in the early sessions there.

Hmmmm. I might sound like an idiot but I'm going out on a limb and picking Holyfield to be the least toughest out of the 5. :think

Edit: Jack johnson would be the easiest. What am I doing posting in this thread? All I know is Louis-Liston is my favorite all time heavyweight match up.
