Patterson was prime, Spinks and Schmeling weren’t. Harder for Liston?

Spinks was unbeaten, Schmeling and Patterson weren’t. Harder for Tyson?

Schmeling already had a victory and a damn convincing one over his opponent, so possible psychological advantage. The other two did not.
    Harder for Louis?

I could go on finding stuff on all three of the losers in these fights that makes each of the winners one round victories seem greater than the other. It’s kinda tough.

But I’m just gonna go with my gut feeling.
Which one on the face of it was most surprising to me? Tyson was an explosive starter, he did his best work early. Not so surprising that a fast starter like him could catch a relatively inexperienced HW like Spinks cold.

Patterson had already shown vulnerabilities in the punch resistance department. Someone like Liston would know this and he’d come out smelling blood. Is it really that much of a surprise that he nailed Patterson so quickly.

Louis wasn’t really known for his explosive starts and Schmeling was a pretty solid performer with a comprehensive and emphatic victory over Joe already. Schmeling had only beaten Louis a couple of years previously too, so taking everything into consideration he certainly didn’t have the look of someone who would be vaporised in one round.

Im going for Louis v Schmeling.

Spinks Undefeated Lineal champion. Tyson Undefeated WBA-WBC-IBF champion. Truly Undisputed status on the line. Neither past their best. Spinks perhaps nearing that point still hadn’t showed signs of decline in any way or form. Purely boxing terms it’s Spinks v Tyson. No historical impact or such. Just 2 undefeated champions fighting for absolute supremacy.

Louis-Schmeling for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with boxing. The other two were just fights, as important as they were in that context. Louis-Schmeling was literally an iconic moment in this country's history.
