    Wladimir Klitschko

Accomplishments: Has unified the heavyweight titles and dominated the division for years and years. He has defended against many different styles, rarely loses a round and delivers brutal KO's.

Criticism: Lost in embarassing fashion against average opponents in Ross Purrity, Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster. Many think this era of heavyweight boxing is weak.

    Floyd Mayweather

Accomplishments: A brilliant technician who consistently fought top names in the sport without suffering a single loss. Brings megafights to the boxing fans.

Criticism: Is accused of avoiding boxers at their peak as well as certain styles.

    Manny Pacquiao

Accomplishments: A fan friendly boxer-punscher whith a resume that spells greatness: Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Antonio Barrera and Miguel Cotto are some of his more noteable wins.

Criticism: Fought many opponent at catchweight. Hardly unbeatable he was knocked spark out by his adversary Marquez.

    Roy Jones Jr

Accomplishments: At the peak of his career, he was widely recognized as the best boxer on planet earth. Holds wins over Bernard Hopkins, James Toney and Antonio Tarver. Picked up titles the whole way from MW to HW,

Criticism: Roy opted not to fight several of the top names of the weight divisions where he darted around. This included Dariusz Michalczewski, who were the lineal champ at LHW.

    Bernard Hopkins

Accomplishments: A dedicated student of the sweet science. His technical skills made is possible for him to defeat time and beat world champs past his forties.

Criticism: Boxing fans are humbled by Hopkins readiness to challenge himself, and the only thing there is to complain about is that Hopkins didn't mind using a few cheap tricks to get the upper hand.

    Joe Calzaghe

Accomplishments: The greatest SMW of all times. Just like Muhammed Ali, he left his own comfortzone in order to fight ATG at their own backyard. He has never been defeated and there is no blueprint on how to beat him.

    Criticism:-

    Definitely NOT Calzaghe.

    A) Because he sucks.
    B) Hopkins resume is better than his, I give more credit to a guy whose nearing 50 and fighting guys like Kovalev than guys who didnt fight nobody of note for 10 years. Calzaghe got an SD over Hopkins and didnt bother with a rematch.
    C) Wlads dominance. His resume is better than Calzaghes 10 year WBO 'dominance' over welsh miners and peoples grandfathers.
    D) Mayweathers undefeated record was over much better opposition.
    E) Pacqiauos has beat better fighters

I also dont think Jones belongs on there, he hasnt done anything relevant recently and he was fighter of the decade in the 90s i believe?

Although all of these guys made their debuts in the 90s (!) only Wlad, Hopkins, Pac and Mayweather are still at or around the top. Its strange but 4 of the top fighters of this era, are all from the previous generation/era.

    Its a difficult question.

All 4 bring their own qualities. Wlads dominance, Mayweathers unparallel skill and undefeated record, Hopkins kicking ass at 50 and going 12 rounds with a monster like Kovalev and Pacqiauo still beating fighters at this advanced part of his career.

you seem to have include a guy who was a wbo titlist for 99% of his career here by accident so I discounted him obviously.

I think it's between Jones, Mayweather and Pac. I've give the slight edge to Pac but it's admittedly a close call.

    Hopkins

Simply because there are no issues with avoidance in his career.

Calzaghe and Jones seem out of place due to how large those issues were for them.

Hey, I need to stay on the good side of the brittish fans here on ESB.

I use this era in a wide sense. But Roy Jones Jr had much of the action in his career in this decade, including his dramatic and sudden downfall at the hands of Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson.

I went for Floyd Mayweather. I don't buy into the accusations of cherrypicking. He has been fighting top names for all of his career, and he has never lost.

It was either him or Wladimir Klitschko. Wlad hasn't fought great fighters, but his dominance is unparalleled within the sport today. He also embodiment what a champ should be about. He knocks people out, and when he's not in the gym he hang out with terminal ill kids and stuff. That's some serious ****.

My only focus with respect to answering this question are his accomplishments in the ring and the comp he's faced. I applaud that's he's a great guy, but it really has no bearing whatsoever in terms of answering the question.

That's more than one era. Pac is the best of this era, Roy is the best of the last.

trouble is, any of the other five, and maybe the next 20-40 below, could do what wlad does. so no hes not top of that list in any shape or form...or else loads make the top of that kind of list.
