Those guys are all sucessfull, talented, young and quite big, which ones should we expect to pursue the money and glamour found at the HW class, in the near future? Enzo Macarinelli, 27, 6'4 Steve Cunningham, 31, 6'3 David Haye, 27, 6'3 Jonathon Banks, 25, 6'3 Chad Dawson, 25, 6'3 Yoan Pablo Hernandez, 25, 6'4
I reckon Dawson might, but he'd have to bulk up. Enzo could, but he's not that big he's a bit skinny really, i cant see him being over 210lbs without losing all his mobility (not that he has a great deal in the first place...) How bout getting Ding's opinion on this, and wether he'll step up to heavy again.
Yep, most of these guys would have to bulk up significantly, but it shouldn't be much of a problem as they all walk around over their wheight class anyway. Only Chad Dawson would have to push himself as he's a light heavy. IMO, Ding should stay at CW, where he is most dangerous and will end up a champ soon.
Don't think that Dawson will do it. He was a super middle weight not long ago and his chin is suspect. Haye already was and is planning to move up after he destroyed Mormeck Enzo Macarinelli will go on defending his title Yoan Pablo Hernandez already was a heavyweight until he lost twice against Solis in the amateurs and had to lose weight. I think he will stay at cruiser.
Enzo is usually well inside the Cruiser limit, so he wont. Dawson is a beanpole and would be literally killed at heaveyweight. Haye is the only one of that group who might have success.
well to say enzo is too skinny ???? he walks arouns as a heavyweight give it 2 possibly 3 years and he WILL move up to hevyweight hes said it all his career, some people on here think that just because you put weight on you have to lose your mobility which is just not the case especially if you have a good trainer and enzo has possibly got the best in the world, haye will inevitably move up after next fight, if he does not then i think that he will fight enzo.
I expect to see Enzo, Haye and Banks at HW in a couple of years at the most. Cunningham may never move up, but I believe it will depend on how long he manages to keep his belt. Dawson/Hernandez may wait 4/5 years but will eventually climb up, perhaps just for a short stint like RJJ did.
I don't think Ding stepped up to heavy because he wanted to step up; it was because he was offered a fight at the last minute and needed the money. It's not like he bulked up for the fight, from the looks of his weight, he just didn't take off water weight before the weigh in. I doubt Enzo moves up anytime soon. His chin is too shaky for heavyweight, and I question how well he could put on the weight. Eventually he'll have to move up, but he doesn't seem to be the type to carry it well. I can see Banks moving up in the long-term, but he needs to get established first. I suspect Dawson will eventually end up at HW. He'll be a small HW, but I could see him packing it on like Michael Moorer. He's already expressed an interest in moving to HW eventually. Cunningham doesn't have the power or the style for HW, although if Chambers can somehow become a perennial contender, I can see where he might want to move up. Cunningham is basically just a better version of Chambers anyway.
