Which of these has the best chance of avenging a loss in a rematch?

Doubt that. His stock has fallen substantially.

The reason I say Khan would have the best chance to avenge is that there are strategic things he could do to turn the tide of the fight. He, unlike the others listed had real success at times against his opponent. All he had to do was, and has to do, is avoid the big shot that always seems to land on him(easier said than done, obviously) and he could continue on to a nifty points win. Most guys at his weight don't have real answers to his handspeed and length when he employs it correctly. Stay on the outside, tie em up if they do get in, and stay in the center of the ring.

Point is, he just needs to keep doin something he was successful at against Garcia, as opposed to the other guys listed whose success was very limited(Bute, Donaire) or not at all (Dawson).

Kahn or Dawson. That's a tough one though. I honestly don't know if any of them could avenge their losses. I would say Dawson would have the best chance, but I'm not sure where his head has been the last year.

Well Donaire has more chance because the other 3 lost by Brutal stoppages meaning the other man knows they can hurt them and easily as well.

 

He caught rigo flush on that 'shaky' chin last time...please remind us of the result of that fight?

I favor Rigo by UD in a rematch, but I give Donaire a good chance of stopping him or get a KD or 2 (and therefore maybe a close decision) if he goes after Rigo from the opening bell.
In the previous fight Donaire waited to go after Rigo and took a big punch on the eye when going for broke in the final round.

Bute got mauled by Froch and although I think he has a chance to win by decision on pure technical ability when fighting in front of a less hostile crowd, I think his chance is pretty slim.

Khan is able to outbox Garcia, but I wonder if he can avoid the big left for the full 12. Reasonable chance, Garcia clear favorite though.

Dawson seems to be done for. He clearly can't take that pimp's punches and even if he gets in ritm outboxing Stevenson I think he just catches him again. Not much of a chance here.

I can't see what Bute could do to keep Froch off him. He doesn't have the power to keep Froch at bay and Froch hurt him every time he landed. Can't see how Bute could go 12 rounds without being caught again and stopped. Froch is just all wrong for him, no fear, heavy handed, iron chinned, big reach and good jab and a work rate where he can throw a 1000 punches if need be. He can't hurt him, can't outwork him, don't think he can even outbox Froch because of the reach difference.

Only chance Khan has is if he completely changes his style of boxing and tactics which he hasn't done despite repeated losses. Garcia is a counter puncher and Khan likes to lead and instigate every attack and throws in combinations so Garcia can counter easily after every Khan combo, like he did in the first fight. Garcia won't have to chase Khan because Khan will always be the one getting off first and giving Garcia opportunities to counter. Khan needs to move and box, pot shot, minimise the combinations, learn to actually counter punch force his opponent to lead more and not give Garcia the opportunities to get him with a counter. So Khan's chances are slim.

Donaire had real problems landing on Rigo and was dominated but he at least has a punchers chance, he dropped Rigo and so has the power to hurt him. But the way he was dominated suggest he would need to come up with some kind of master plan to either win on points or apply enough pressure to force a stoppage. Donaire has a slim chance but better then Khan or Bute.

Dawson fought a stupid fight and has shown he does better in rematches in the past. He was practically asking to be KO'ed by Stevenson by being so aggressive and standing in range to be hit by the counter after such a lazy jab. I can't imagine Dawson fighting any worse, I think he would have the best chance of success in the rematch he can outbox Stevenson if he fights a focused fight.

 

I do think Bute has the power to hurt Froch, and did, although not seriously, in the 1st or 2nd round of their fight. (Froch said as much afterwards). Bute did do fairly well in over the course of the 1st couple of rounds, but I am concerned about his ability to take a shot off of Froch. Which is why I can't see pick him as my 1st option or 2nd option.

1)Khan- has the ability, but not the gameplan to beat Garcia. However, that can be fixed. It's been said before though.

2)Donaire- Bigger, stronger. Completely out foxed in the last fight. Has the tools at his diposal to win the fight though.

3)Bute- see above.

4) Dawson- Seems to be done.

Very interesting topic. :think I actually give all four of those losers (meaning they lost, not passing judgment on them :yep) roughly equally low chances against the rivals who respectively proved to have their #'s. It's funny how all four were originally favorites or no worse than even money before getting trounced.

By the way, Hans, I don't think I've officially ever welcomed you to our forum - but you've stuck out so far as maybe the best newbie of 2013...and have come along when a replenishment in the ranks of quality posters is sorely needed. :good
