Id give him a good shot against a few over a longer distance.

Over 12 all of them beat him.

I wouldn't make any of them favourite over him, but I would still expect some to beat him if you follow.

He was basically 5%-15% better than everybody on that list.

Pinklon Thomas was ranked in the Ring top 10 at heavy for six years, which included a stint as the #1 contender to the world's heavyweight title.

You got some strange criteria for what constitutes "decent" and "a ****ing bum."

I hate to harp on, but rules again. I'd pick all those guys to beat Willard over 12 rounds with 10 ounce gloves (though he does have a puncher's chance!). On the other hand, if Willard is allowed to wrestle, hold (although he showed no interest in doing that/wasn't allowed to do that v Dempsey) it might come out different. It also might come out different because of a 45 round limit.

    Excellent post :good

I've never been overly impressed with Willard. The footage I've seen of him looks awful and not just the Dempsey fight. I reckon some of those guys will not only beat Willard, but light him up like a christmas tree.

I don’t agree with the notion that Jess needs a longer distance to win.

If he fights using the style that he did in the Moran fight, a lot of these guys will not have an answer for it.

Every time Pinklon stepped up to the plate against guys like Morrison, Tyson, Berbick, Bowe, and Holyfield he lost usually by knockout.

Depends largely on which version of Jess. All of them beat 1919 Jess, most beat 1915 Jess. A giant gulf in talent and ability.

Any of them could lose to him without surprising me. But I'd make Thomas, Coetzee, Dokes and even Sanders favourites over him.
Rahman was strong but a bit of a plodder, I'd make that fight 50-50.
I'd make Willard a slight favourite over C00ney.

Are we talking 12 or 15 rounds? Willard had no defense. He's in trouble vs any skilled puncher, but he has a punchers chance vs many.

The more chinny and stamina deprived his opponent is, the greater Willard's chances are.
